Graffiti Writer Can't Get Vegan Food on Riker's

Anyone have a spare block of extra firm tofu, a nail file, and a soft spot for graffiti gal UTAH? She's currently doing time on Riker's Island, and allegedly she can't get her hands on any vegan grub. Animal reports that after a friend visited her there, he reported back via Twitter, saying: “She said it’s not so bad, like a ghetto sleepaway camp. Suave shamps. She is starving b/c she is vegan. No tempeh on the island apparently.” The Department of Corrections directs inmates with special dietary needs to a nutritionist, who can issue an ID card for vegan meal procurement. Of course, it's actually easier to send a lawsuit-threatening letter than to go through this process successfully. And that is exactly what UTAH had to do in order to get soy milk and peanut butter.

For what it's worth "Utah" is a nice tag, done and placed well. It always pleased me to see it. I'm agnostic on veganism. I don't respect the "new age belief systems," but that is my own prejudice. I hope she does her time with a minimum of drama and goes on to a productive, happy life.

By the way, why isn't she named in this post or on Animal? Is she too good to go by her birth name, Danielle Bremner? Does she think she's some uber-cool superstar who thinks everyone should recognize her by one name a la Madonna? Or is she ashamed of what she's done and doesn't want her real name associated with it for all (including possibly future employers, assuming she ever actually wants to do an honest day's work) to see on the Internet?

Well it is obvious you are an uber-hater. And it is too bad you are uber-stupid as shit, too. She is in jail...no computers...so she did not write anything on this page. How do you presume to know what she thinks or how she feels about anything. She is not participating in this ridiculous discussion, yet you have all these accusations about what she thinks. You make so many personal negative statements against Danielle that is is very clear you have some person motive or agenda that causes you to reach out and spew your hatred. The fact is, that no matter who it is, the punishment is time in jail, not starvation. Kosher and Halal meals are served everyday and nobody is forced to justify why they need or want it. The same laws that put people in jail dictate that they be treated in a humane way. If you support the law, then it is ALL laws, not just the ones that serve your purposes. There is a constitution...and people in jail deserve to be fed properly. You don't get to pick and choose who deserves what punishment. You are a p---y who hides his/her personal hatred by trying to make believe that you have some valid or valuable opinion about an issue.

So on one hand...yeah, it's prison.

But on the other hand, total excuse to go all caveman on a big, juicy, greenish-grey hamburger! When you've been without meat, I'm sure even prison meat tastes divine.

Plus, when you get out you can be a martyr to all your vegan friends -- and tell them how gross it was to be forced to eat the mystery chopped steak every day. (Particularly to have to go back for seconds.)
