Snow (Leopards) in June!

Just in time for summer: the snow leopards are here! Coming straight from the Bronx, the big cats have been getting some spotlight regarding their move to the Central Park Zoo, who will open their new Allison Maher Stern Snow Leopard Exhibit tomorrow.

Earlier today some school children from the five boroughs were invited to take a sneak peek at Manhattan's first ever snow leopards. The Wildlife Conservation Society says, “We hope that all who visit this exhibit will be inspired to join our efforts to help save these animals and other rare species around the world.” Currently there are an estimated few thousand of these cats in the wild, with 700 in captivity (3 at the Central Park Zoo). Upon their move to Manhattan, the trio were given new names—learn more about Bo, Zoe and Chocolate here.

so beautiful, can't wait to see them!!

They were taken out of the wild so they could live in the small jail called Central Park Zoo. When will people stop effing with wildlife!!! These 3 beautiful rarely seen creatures should have been left in the wild... endangered or not they don't deserve life in boring mundane captivity.

It's too bad they have to live at the Central Park Zoo. It's tiny, it smells, and seems a bit dirty. I've always felt bad for the animals there.

Too bad the Central Park Zoo and the Wildlife Conservation Society didn't get Apple Computers to sponsor the exhibit.

It would have been good timing with the marketing and release of their new OS.

They don't need more marketing. Smart people are already on the OS X bandwagon or about to get on. And the $29 upgrade price will beat the stuffing out of Windows 7.

    Sexy thangs!

Those tails look powerful, like they could knock you across the street.

  • I love that 6th picture, of the snow leopard showing his/her teeth!
