Report: 2 Air France Passengers Had Islamic Terrorism Ties

2009_06_aftail.jpg According to Sky News, "Two passengers with names linked to Islamic terrorism were on board the Air France flight which crashed with the loss of 228 lives... While it is certain that there were computer malfunctions, terrorism has not been ruled out...There is a possibility the name similarities are simply a 'macabre coincidence', the source added, but the revelation is still being 'taken very seriously'." In the meantime, a French nuclear submarine has joined the search for the black boxes and the Brazilian island of Fernando de Noronha, usually a tourist destination, has been transformed into a staging ground for search-and-recovery operations.

    Here's the real story:

French authorities have known who was on the plane since the day it went down. Why release this information now?

For a few days after the crash, the weather was the leading culprit, but for the past week, nearly every new theory involves at least some negligence on the part of Air France and/or Airbus, which is, of course, based in France. Furthermore, the Paris Air Show takes place next week, traditionally an event where Airbus receives a large portion of their annual orders. This year they'll be lucky to earn any orders due to the economy, and this "tail fell off" stuff doesn't help their image.

Even if this name stuff turns out to be nothing (notice they didn't actually release the names), it will take some heat off of two giant French companies for a few days.

Typically, when proven wrong, you. . . attempt to divert the conversation.

    Pot calling the kettle black.

  • SP

    Example please?

Try reading..this isnt about the TSA...or a 'watch list'

'It was there that they established that two names on the passenger list are also on highly-classified documents listing the names of radical Muslims considered a threat to the French Republic.'

Its the French government. And yes..when it comes to 'brown' people and aviation...there is kinda..a little bit..of a history. Perhaps you should read about all these 'brown' people and what they have done to airplanes. They even forced other 'brown' people to jump 100 stories to their death. Yeah 'Brown' people!!!

I think you are the one witch reading comprehension problems. My point, which was lost on you, is that just names alone, no matter what documents they may correlate with, are meaningless in and of themselves. The TSA no fly list is the most egregious example of this. YOU asked me to name ten people on the TSA list who should not be on it, and I provided you with examples of over 16,500. Typically, when proven wrong, you as other conservative wingnuts do, attempt to divert the conversation. And thanks for reinforcing what a racist piece of shit you are too.

The one time I've flown out of Galeao I was practically strip-searched (along with everyone else). I'd think this airport would be an unlikely terrorist target.

  • Trilby16

Personally, I'm leaning towards not flying anywhere soon...

  • birdmechanical

I mean, if this was terrorism it was clearly a botched job. Having a plane mysteriously disappear, later found to have crashed into the ocean...doesn't really get "a message out" or produce terror (except the general terror of flying).

  • angry_pickle

botched job? It succeeded in creating terror. Experiment was a success. If terrorism was the cause, look out for more "botched jobs" in the middle of the ocean where black boxes might not be recovered to learn what happened.

Personally, I'm leaning towards weather-related/defective equipment and not terrorism.

  • SP

    "It succeeded in creating terror."

Uh really? Maybe to you. All it succeeded in accomplishing is making a lot of people really sad, and wasting a lot money. No one was terrorized by this, except for maybe a handful of xenophobic paranoid reactionaries, but then again they are terrorized by just about anything anyone with brown skin does that doesn't involve playing a professional sport.

  • SP

Exactly. When terrorists accomplish something they take credit for it immediately.

  • Politburo

I was going to say that myself.. but if you look at a detailed timeline, AQ did not initially take credit for 9/11. OBL personally denied having anything to do with it in a video message.

Various groups took credit for Lockerbie, but none had any actual ties to it.

fucking rock on. good work, SP.

  • Steven

If they don't find the black box I highly doubt we will ever figure out what happened to the flight.

  • OttoBloggo

Gee whiz, a few years ago the mainstream media would be all over this instantly. We have certainly become more complacent. A shame.

  • SP

This means absolutely nothing, given the fact that the terrorist name watch list has been demonstrated over and over and over again to contain names of hundreds of thousands of people not in the slightest involved with terrorism, such as infant children, sitting US Senators, journalists critical of the Department of Homeland Security, and many others. Also, given the fact that the names of Muslims are very often permutations on the same themes, there is no way of singling out suspected individuals without incriminating thousands if not millions of others in one stroke. These lists of names are complete horseshit, a travesty of justice, and create the presumption of guilt simply by one's name, without any other substantiating evidence.

  • hotstepper

    1. the names are from french documents, not american.

"It was there that they established that two names on the passenger list are also on highly-classified documents listing the names of radical Muslims considered a threat to the French Republic."

    2. there is no presumption of guilt. that is why they are investigating further.

"Agents are now trying to establish dates of birth for the two dead passengers, and family connections."

  • ML152

how come none of the other major news sites (CNN, NYTimes) are carrying this story?

  • citizenerased

I noticed that too. Probably because its unsubstantiated horse shit.

  • Ared

    Kind of like your comment?

  • citizenerased

Yes, hence the word 'probably' moron.

  • hotstepper

ha ha! terrorism is SOOOOO funny. ha ha! people died! ha ha!

    dicks...

  • chris

I heard Kevin Bacon has islamic terrorism ties.

  • r1b2

All details of which were on his BlackBerry

  • buttface

This is grounds for all air passengers to start shitting on a plate for a TSA specialist to inspect (for any traces of couscous).
