Saturday saw one of the many festivities celebrating the 400 year anniversary of Henry Hudson's visit to the area—the launch of River Day, with a flotilla of ships, including a replica of Hudson's ship the Half Moon. Ships left the Statue of Liberty yesterday morning and are heading up the Hudson River, making stops along the way, ending in Albany on Saturday.
Governor Paterson said, "The 1609 voyage of Henry Hudson opened a route that became America’s lifeblood and brought about a flood of art, culture and commerce that changed the world. This 400th anniversary is a proud moment in New York State’s history. The River Day Flotilla celebrates this anniversary and serves as a floating museum during the journey, providing historical and educational programs at many stops along the way."

If Hudson's crew knew the importance of his discoveries, I bet they never would have mutinied and dumped him overboard.
Yeah and they mutinied because he took them to Hudson's Bay so he could see his name in lights.
Arrrgh.
I understand the Tall Ships parade will end in Albany on Saturday. Is it possible to see the ships in Albany on Sunday?
