Kogi Curious Line Up

2009_06_destruck.jpg As predicted, folks curious about the fuss surrounding LA taco truck sensation Kogi BBQ have been lining up at 55th Street and Lexington for Kogi's special one-hour guest appearance at the Dessert Truck. Midtown Lunch is on the scene: "The line at 11:40am is already stretching down the block...Line count right now… 65 and growing- and the truck doesn’t open until noon!... 11:59 About to start serving food. Line is 2/3 of the way back to Third Ave." Midtown Lunch adds, "Lee Anne Wong from season one of Top Chef is on hand to help dish out the food. Why you might ask? Because she is now the executive chef of east coast operations of Kogi BBQ and will be in charge of the first Kogi BBQ truck in New York." (Kogi BBQ did give a shout-out to her on their website.)

So many people spend so much of their time pursuing so much that is trivial and frivilous. Folks, get a life. Get a more demanding job and raise a family and have some obligations so you don't find it necessary (or reasonable or acceptable) to stand in line like that for a taco!

Well said. I appreciate simple food made well, like this stuff and Shake Shack, but there's no way I'd ever wait more than a few minutes for anything unless I was at risk of death and there was nothing else to eat.

And I suspect if some major disaster were to befall the city, these people will be the first to complain when they have to stand on a line for bread and water.

An hour of my time and $4 for 2 pieces of kimchi quesadillas and a small dessert. Not worth it for what they served today, but curious about the full menu.

Even AFTER they announced a cut off point (limit was 200 servings) people were still waiting in line. They didn't disperse until the actual last pieces were served and the assistants told everyone the party was over.

Wow, that's some crazy line! I think it will be easier to just hope on a plane to LA!
