  • From the Gothamist Newsmap: A car vs. building on Kent Ave in Brooklyn, a power outage at 34th St btwn 7th & 8th Ave in Manhattan and an armed robbery on Lafayette on Staten Island.
  • President Obama is in France to commemorate D-Day. Overlooking Omaha Beach in Normandy, he said, "The sheer improbability of this victory is part of what makes D-Day so memorable."
  • The NYPD's Mounted Unit has 10 thoroughbred horses (yes, they are former race horses). Pros: They are tall, which gives cops better views over crowds. Cons: They are apparently more high-strung.
  • WABC's Seven on Your Side helped out a Queens man who paid his property taxes twice.
  • At some law firms, which have been downsizing, a legal consultant tells the NY Times the mood "is kind of like sitting at a deathbed and watching a close relative wither away. It’s like you’re right there in the I.C.U. with the patient and you know that the condition is terminal."
  • A Delaware man was sentenced to four years in prison for vehicular manslaughter. He was a groomsman in a wedding, had 10 drinks at the rehearsal dinner in NJ, and crashed the car, killing a bridesmaid.
  • The Joseph Patelson Music House in Midtown is closing tomorrow.
  • A Long Island sandwich shop worker noticed that a $100 bill was missing an "S" in "series 2003"—turned out the customer was using fake money!
  • John Stamos says he's working on an idea to bring Full House to the big screen.
