NYC Embraces Grizzly Bear
Over the past week Brooklyn band Grizzly Bear has played a total of three local shows, two at Town Hall and one in their home borough at Music Hall of Williamsburg, in support of their new album Veckatimest. Since we first saw them open for the Mountain Goats at the Knitting Factory we've been continuously lulled, dazzled, enchanted and impressed with this band. We caught the Brooklyn show this past Sunday and remained equally mesmerized in the back of the hot, crowded room. Sadly, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus wasn't there to accompany them on "Cheerleader" and “Fine for Now," as they were at the midtown venue. The NY Times reported on that show, noting the occasional "churchly minor-key ambience... signifying the sublime. It’s an artier cousin to the early ’60s records produced by Phil Spector and arranged by Jack Nitzsche."
Fun Fact: Apparently Michael McDonald was at one of the Town Hall shows and has been trying to convince them to do a cover of one of his songs. (Photo via istolethetv's flickr)Click through to see what happened this week in rock.

Saw them in Paris in 97. It was cool because they were not that popular in Europe so it was a very small venue.
Ew.
If you think a Phish song needs to be 'trimmed down', you've missed the point.
