Parents Angry at Principal for Allegedly Racist Questionnaire

2009_06_ps96poll.jpg An elementary school principal in Harlem has formally apologized for sending a questionnaire to teachers asking them to classify disruptive students by race. But that's not good enough for parents of students at PS 96, which is 71 percent Hispanic and 26 percent black; they're calling for the resignation of Principal Dr. Claudia Moore-Hamilton (who is black). Among other things, the survey asked teachers to identify their problem students as "Black," "Hispanic" or "Other." In an apology letter to parents and faculty, Moore-Hamilton, who's been in charge for one year, acknowledged that her "approach was inflammatory," and the DOE issued a statement agreeing that "the survey was inappropriate." But Fox News reports an investigation is ongoing, and parents say they're fed up after a year filled with fights and students' failed attempts to burn the school down. According to the Post, Assemblyman Adam Powell IV has even chimed in, demanding her removal and citing complaints that she gave children Christmas presents, only to take them back from those on a "naughty" list.

I bet that around 71% of the disruptive ones are black and 26% of them are hispanic.
I'd be cautious about the "others", they're just too vague and mysterious.

i am going to sue that school and the board of education and bloomjerk himself because this is straight up racism against me-- because i was lumped in with the "Others"....am i not an individual within a collective based solely on the color of my skin and/or blood? should i too be denied my "rights" to be a worthless trouble making thug? etc etc etc the usual claptrap...where's my lying al sharpton, the al sharpton of the "Others" category to represent my "brothers and sisters in the struggle" (struggling against what is not important, just the fact we are using the word "struggle"?

what the hell is manny ramirez, david ortiz, and Alfonso soriano? can you be black and hispanic? are you going to check both boxes? what happens if people like being called latinos instead of hispanic? this shit is confusing.

Why don't people in authority think before they act? Tragic.

[At PS 96] kids would often hang out on the roof, start fires or fight.

It's apparent to me that they have bigger problems than an inappropriate survey to worry about at that school.

Isn't that the same ballot they used in Florida in 2000?
