Big Gay Ice Cream Truck Will Roll "Out" Shortly

2009_06_big_gay.jpg Adding some extra toppings to what's shaping up to be the summer of ice cream vendors (complete with secret and not-so-secret wars), Serious Eats reports that a new contender, The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, has its official paperwork in the mail and is getting ready to roll out.

What's the deal with The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck? Glad you asked. As operator Doug Quint put it to SE: "Let's face it, ice cream trucks are kind of queer, and a middle-aged white man driving one is pretty suspect," adding, "That's not to say that I'm a rolling hotbed of perversion. Hardly the case. It's all in the name of silly." To that end, Quint (who apparently is also a pretty mean bassoonist) is actively seeking requests for cha-cha music to play in his truck.

Otherwise, Quint is readying "standard ice-cream-truck fare" for the truck and expects to start selling next week. Serious Eats reports Quint will experiment with other flavors like olive oil and sea salt, and will take suggestions from customers for limited edition flavors. And good timing too; this will give local State Senators "undecided" about the same-sex marriage bill a chance to take an ice cream break to think things over.

...let me get this straight...the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck will be serving up big erect cones that will then be licked in a passionate and intense manner...somebody correct me if i'm wrong...

Yum! You scream. I scream . We all scream for ICE CREAM!

There is no point if the ice cream selection isn't all natural.

I came via Gothamist. Please play anagotdivita by iron butterfly as your jingle and remember to turn it off when you're stopped and not play it aft 9pm in Brooklyn, or we'll kill you.

[Yeah, that was me]

I could not possibly hate that logo more.
