Video: Rooftop Pandemonium at Thompson LES Hotel!

We've got to admit, when we heard that residents near the Thomspon LES Hotel were vehemently complaining about the noise from the hotel's new rooftop patios, we wondered if maybe they weren't overreacting just a tiny bit, considering that they choose to live in a part of Manhattan not exactly known as an oasis of tranquility. But good grief, check out this recent Thompson LES pool party, documented by a neighbor who should be credited for shooting video, not bullets.

It's just too bad no one was actually in the pool, because a "fallen" toaster and a long extension cord could have ended that party most ricky-tick. [Via Vanishing New York]

Maybe its time for the residents to fight back. Get a few flood lights, stick them in their windows pointing out the roof deck, and the party goers will probably dissipate pretty quickly.

Or a power washer with a long range. It would technically be an assault, but no Judge would convict. It would be considered a neighborhood improvement.

Well, if they don't have approval for a rooftop bar as yesterday's post said, then it's time to pull their liquor license.

Paintball gun + scope = party over.

This is a frequent error of many people who don't seem to realize that many of the people who live on the LES were here long before it became polluted as a night-life spot. I remember this block as being dead quiet at night in the 90s.

They didn't "choose" to move into a noisy neighborhood. The creeps who make all the noise and build these hotels choose to ruin a perfectly fine neighborhood. In fact, the Thom hotel only moved in a couple of years ago.

So, don't blame the victims for the crime they must witness.

These hotels with outdoor party spaces are completely out of context with the neighborhood and are stunning examples of both poor zoning and a corrupt, toothless SLA.

Sadly the well-intentioned 197 re-zoning of the LES will push this crap onto the Bowery and into Chinatown (as we are already seeing).

Do we need a vibrant nightlife and new businesses? Absolutely. Do we need unsustainable Las Vegas-modeled clubs and hotels that exclusively cater to the uber wealthy? Not so much.

that looks like an outdoor club,
is that legal? cabaret laws? what does the SLA say?

If the camera person got that good of a view, I'd use urine- filled ballons to solve the actual problem. Get a buddy down there to film it properly too. They stoppped my neighbor from smoking weed outside in front of my window very quickly, when explaining the issue did nothing.

Synchronize watches! Bombs away!!!

Did you ever think to ask your neighbor to stop smoking weed in front of your window or did you go straight to the piss ploy? Just wondering who's the bigger asshole in that equation.

The Cloverfield Monster could take that party out. No Problem.

Well, either the monster would get them or they would die laughing at its parasites/spawn.
