Thompson Says Mayoral Race "Is Just Beginning"

2009_05_thompson2.jpg With Rep. Anthony Weiner officially deciding not to run for mayor this year, that leaves NYC Comptroller William Thompson as the leading candidate in the Democratic primary. City Council member Tony Avella (D-Queens) is still running; a NY1 poll shows Thompson would beat Avella by 30 points. Thompson said of challenging Mayor Bloomberg, "This race isn't over. If anything, this race is just beginning. I think the mayor, in spending $20 million this early, is trying to create a distorted sense of reality. He's trying to let you believe that he can't be beat. The truth is, talk to New Yorkers, they want somebody new. They want someone who will stand up and fight for them." Bloomberg, naturally, disagrees, telling reporters, "If you have a good message, people are going to be responsive. It’s not money. It’s whether or not you have something to say. It’s the substance." And a Daily News editorial says the city's Democrats don't seem to have a message against Bloomberg.

to the democratic party: play your cards right. don't b.s. around. emphasize the behind the scenes maneuvering of bloomberg to get this third term, blow holes through his phony "man of the people" taking the subway etc, concentrate on what money means in this city, and don't forget the constant flip flopping to secure the vote by changing his party affiliation. c'mon, even a buffoon can find plenty of fodder to deal with bloomberg. and this isn't even negative campaigning. but you should do that as well.

as for this guy thompson, i don't want to vote for him either. it's as if weiner (wiener) was bought off too, letting the game be open for a victory. let's stop that from happening.

see what the "voters" do. at least my vote is one vote against bloomberg. i don't care who the other person is or does.

as a matter of fact, i saw bloomberg near city hall the other week, with three or four bodyguards. as he walked by, i said to him, "i'm not voting for you" but he had no response.

Can't wait for a Thompson - Bloomberg - Rev. Billy debate!

Bloomberg will be hard to beat. The defamers are in action already. Compared to the Democrat candidates, he's Mother Theresa.

Change-alujah! Vote Rev. Billy!

Bloomberg is the perfect 21st century politician. Pro-business, pro-PC-nonsense, pro-rich, pro-poor. He even left the Republicans and then returned so it's unclear what his party loyalties are. I guess his only saving grace is that unlike Hillary, when he spends millions on his own campaign, he doesn't expect someone to pay it back to him. The recession is to Bloomy what Iraq was to Bushy--a predicament so strong that it defuses people's desire to switch horses mid-shitstorm.

the other side has to play dirty, by dirty, that means telling the truth. the truth the press dare not print.
City Hall is not CitiBank.
We don't need another West side stadium and 311 is useless.
has he taken care of any outter boroughs besides Staten Island????????????
