  • From the Gothamist Newsmap: An unusual rescue at 66th St in Queens, a gas main break on 11th Ave in Manhattan and a motorcycle MVA at Drumgoole Rd W & Arden Ave on Staten Island.
  • Keep an eye out for "Manhattanhenge" this weekend, where the sun will set in perfect alignment with the street grid.
  • Rats are freaking out West Village residents—including Gisele Bundchen. Neighbors blame a resident who hasn't replaced stolen garbage cans.
  • The Department of Environmental Conservation shut down all fishing in Huntington due to potentially lethal toxins found in shellfish.
  • A linen mogul apparently viciously beat his maid—on her second day of work—with an ashtray. He actually admitted beating her (but with his "closed fist") because he claims she stole $5,500 in cash.
  • An arrest was made after a an argument in the Parkchester section of the Bronx led to the shooting death of 23-year-old Alex Torres.
  • Here's a video of a gay activist in Queens who attempts to speak to State Sen. Thomas Onorato about gay marriage (Onorato has said he'll vote "no"). The Daily News' Elizabeth Benjamin calls it "priceless—and sad."
  • In spite of accusations that AT&T (unwittingly?) helped boost American Idol winner Kris Allen's chances, the show's producers stand by the outcome that Allen was the true winner.
  • Singer Chris Brown told fans via YouTube: “Everybody that’s haters, they just been haters. All my real fans, I love you all. I ain’t a monster.”
  • Weezer is teaming with Snuggie to put out a -W-earable blanket, or "Wuggie," that Rivers Cuomo calls "totally legit." Had this happened a decade ago, that wuss who served you coffee today would be doing it in a slanket instead of those black-framed glasses.
  • And if you can't think of someone in your life who needs to see this compilation of YouTube clips featuring the most annoying impressions to do, maybe you're the one that needs to retire the old Austin Powers shtick.

The state senator is George Onorato, not Thomas.

It's Rivers Cuomo, actually. Though Cum-o would be a pretty hilarious name for a musician.
