With the four men accused of plotting to bomb Bronx synagogues and attack the National Guard base in Newburgh, NY being held in custody without bail, their family and friends have been speaking out about the arrests. The mother of David Williams (pictured) says the government informant—known as "Maqsood"—told her son he'd take care of getting a liver transplant for Williams' dying brother. And Williams' girlfriend defended him to the Daily News, as did the girlfriend of alleged ringleader James Cromitie. Kathleen Baynes said that the informant gave Cromitie "cash, free food, rent money and even bags of marijuana," saying, "This is entrapment. They come and hit a brother who is down and out, and tell him they'll give him the world. Maqsood is no different than a pimp or drug dealer sitting on 42nd St."

Maybe, but the difference here is the dealer would just enable you to kill only yourself, and not other people whom you do not even remotely know. I do not make light of the intent to cause malice and chaos.
There were a lot of hoops to jump thorugh and these guys jumped through all of them willingly with intent and attention to detail. They thought the feds were on to them, but they so badly wanted to carry out their plans that they ignored these warning signs and went right back into it.
Read the obits and stories on suicide bombers around the world - they all love their families and have done nice things for them. Great. Hitler loved animals.

These men are already convicted felons; drugs, violence, guns.
There are recorded conversations of their intentions and their need/want for strong-arms to kill people and cause harm. They thought they purchased surface to air missiles to bring down US Air Force planes and near residential areas. These men knew exactly what they were doing and there isn't a jury or judge in this nation that will not convict.

Sounds like these men were clever enough to trick "loved ones" into believing they were nice guys, when in fact, even before the terror plot, they were/are violent criminals, and one is a sex offender.
The point is not that the arrestees are nice guys. They are not, they are petty, violent thugs. The important point is that it's pretty evident that they would never have thought of "jihad" and other such garbage had they not been put up to it by the FBI informant. So you can see how the b.s. builds upon itself: the informant wants to look important, so he concocts a plot and sells is to the dumb thugs and the FBI. The FBI wants to look important, so they bust this "plot" which would not have existed without their encouragement. And you want to believe in the FBI and terrorist plots, so you buy it -- not only figuratively but literally. You're paying for all this baloney.
Meanwhile, maybe there are real terrorists cooking up real plots, while the FBI (and you) focus on idle shows and games and pat each other on the back.
Perhaps the FBI put a stumbling block before the blind, but again, these guys went the distance. They were given opportunities to stop but they just kept on keeping on. And, if it hadn't come from the FBI it would have come from another source. Maybe they wouldn't have gotten the shoulder-fired rocket launcher, but they would have gotten the gun, and they would have shot up that synagogue or community center or whatever. So the FBI got them on something bigger to make it stick - sounds just good to me. I'd rather these guys spend the rest of their lives in prison, and not just a couple of months or years.
You're not getting it. Yes, they're thugs. They were not Muslim terrorist thugs until the FBI informant put the idea in their heads and supplied them with (fake) means, with the help of the FBI. At least, that's how the story reads so far.
This isn't the first time an informant pushed a group into illegal actions, but if after 9/11 you don't know enough to walk away from this or maybe call the cops, then you belong in jail for criminal stupidity.
If we make stupidity a crime, we're going to need a lot of jails.
Stupidity is locking yourself out of your home.
Criminal stupidity is sitting down over and over again with people who are planning to kill just because it's cool.
So this is how the FBI wastes my tax money? *sigh*

That brother is a grown man, according to the ages provided in the press, and is responsible for his actions. Grown men are -- or should be -- capable of exercising critical thinking and making informed choices about those actions.
