Yesterday, the city honored the 110 members of teams from the NYPD, FBI and other agencies who helped foil the terror plot to bomb Bronx synagogues and attack the National Guard base in Newburgh, NY. Mayor Bloomberg said, "I feel safer today in this city than ever before. They have prevented what could have been a terrible loss of life." And Governor Paterson said, "The work was simply outstanding, and it demonstrates the increased sophistication that counterterrorist activity has had to undergo to keep up with the widespread threats. I can't thank all of them enough."
According to the Post, "57 [of the members]were from the NYPD, 39 were FBI, 10 were State Troopers, and there were four others." Police Commissioner Ray Kelly also added that while the suspects in the terror plot were Muslim, the NYPD was not targeting Muslims, "We have to follow the leads wherever they take us. We're not looking to focus on any particular community in the city. That's the world we live in."
The suspects ultimately did meet the informant, who fed information to the authorities and even managed to take the suspects' gun to the FBI (who filed down the firing pin), at a mosque in Newburgh, NY. Even though other worshippers were surprised by the informant who would apparently immediately talk about jihad, James Cromitie, one of the suspects and the alleged leader, told him, "I hate those motherf-----s, those f-----g Jewish bastards. I would like to get [bomb] a synagogue."
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. said, at a press conference with other religious leaders, "Let this moment not be defined by four idiots, by four cowards and their plan. Let it be defined by the many voices of different religions, the song that we should sing as one united choir." Cromitie, Onta Williams, David Williams and Laguerre Payen are being held without bail.

great, 110 people work for a year and a half to arresst 4 petty criminal idiots who could barely tie their shoelaces let alone aquire an anti-aircraft missile
lets celebrate the fabulous use of those resources for the full public relations bonanza they provide
no kidding, one's a career criminal and they wasted all those resources to get that guy when a jaywalking ticket would have put him in the slammer.
fear and terror is a wonderful business.
what a load of bs.
110 = both the number of cops involved, and the combined IQ scores of the four suspects.
Some people probably skipped the photo op and slept in.
So far none of the terror acts in this country were done by Mensa members. Most of these people are stupid and basic police work could have stopped them.
what bs propaganda. all this effort to make a major terrorist threat out of nothing reminds me of this frank miller - originally meant for censorship, but it applies to the war on terror, if you just add...'safe from the muslims'
