With all the squabbling over World Trade Center development—not to mention delays and ballooning budgets and talk of cutting buildings—a number of players (like the Port Authority's Anthony Coscia, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, WTC developer Larry Silverstein,NY Governor David Paterson), met at Gracie Mansion today. But don't expect anything to come out of it. Mayor Bloomberg told reporters, "There will not be a grand announcement at the end of [this] afternoon that the days of wine and roses are here again.... If we can be a catalyst and provide a forum for them to get together - I would like to do that. It is in the interest of the city and this country to get development going at the World Trade Center site...There's no easy solution here. We'll try and come to an agreement."

According to the NY Times, "The best outcome of the Gracie Mansion summit, many say, may be an agreement to meet again."

No fucking stump buildings!

I don't know if I could even count on these guys to plan an after school bake sale...

Although they aren't wearing half bras on their heads it looks like they are sitting Shiva to me.

What is Silverstein doing there? He has been a stumbling block for anything that had to be done.

Gawd, to have a Vagisil concession at that meeting...

Good idea putting "brain trust" in quotes. There's only one or two there with anything ressembling a brain and I don't trust any of them.

You are being way too harsh on the two waiters seen in the top half of the picture.

Jesus. They look less like a brain trust and more like a dozen guys forced to play tea party by their big sister.

Big sister obviously being Silverstein.

Interesting that when I type in Larry Silverstein into the search engine Clusty.com, the 1st two links are Silverstein Properties and this video of him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WYdAJQV100
