Bank-Robbing Cop Has Huge Debt, But You Should See His Pool

052109mugshot.jpg So it looks like detectives' theory that an ex-cop's bank robbery "appears to be economically motivated" is right on the money. Retired NYPD sergeant Thomas Feeney, who was arrested just minutes after robbing a Long Island bank at gunpoint Tuesday, is in major debt because of an ambitious landscaping project on the grounds of his Smithtown, LI, home, which included a new lining for his swimming pool. A neighbor tells the Post, in an article headlined "Poolhardy Choices By Heist Cop," that the pool upgrade was "a luxury item, so it didn't look like he was having any money problems." But an associate of Feeney blames his financial woes on his ex-wife, saying she "cleaned him out" after their divorce. And now she's going to try and get full custody of their daughters, which sucks for them, because their dad was probably just about to open the pool for the summer. Suffolk County Detective Sgt. Robert Doyle says Feeney's credit card debt is "well over $100,000."

As opposed to doing it just for the "fun of it".

Gee, maybe if you're getting cleaned out by your ex in a divorce, better not to spend money on a new pool lining.

Sounds like just another schmuck living beyond his means. No sympathy.

Usually a guy doing stupid things can be tied diretly to either Women, Money or Drugs (or combo). But I agree this guy is just a tool.

So the taxpayers go from supporting an ex-cop on disability to supporting another convict in jail?

Cops and criminals: so much in common.

Someone is gonna 'line his pool' alright...

"Suffolk County Detective Sgt. Robert Doyle says Feeney's credit card debt is "well over $100,000."

Looks like he charged all that debt at McDonalds.

It's wonderful that someone else will be able to enjoy that pool after this idiot loses the house along with his family. What a greedy fat schmuck!

how many banks he has to rob to pay off that 100K debt?
might be easier declaring bankruptcy. is his disability payments exempt?

unless this wizard planned on filling his pool with blue raspberry jell-o, i don't get the logic in spending all that money.

Someones gonna get owned by Brutus at Rikers.

I think I've learned something from this article. I've learned that ugly people should not get married cause the person that married them just wanted their money cause who could ever love a person who has creepy child raping eyes? the end.

You guys are gonna love this one. Do the Numbers.
He got out on disability in 1994 at age 31 (he's now 46).
Full health benefits for him and fam. Probably also gets Social Security Disability. That's up until the (first?) robbery. Guess what? he still gets to keep his pension/SSI!. His family still gets full bennies. He goes away at taxpayers' expense, comes out with the accumulated pension bucks (minus what his ex will dip).
His pension can't even be touched for fines. The Mafia cops are still collecting pensions, even after murdering folks. He declares bankrupt, stays in the slammer at our expense (NOT in Gen Pop, for his protection, as he's an ex-cop), comes out with a Tax-free bundle for a new pool, hookers, coke, whatever. Anybody see a problem here?
