  • Yankees 9 Baltimore 1: A pitchers’ duel was transformed by a seven-run seventh inning from the Yankees giving the Yankees their seventh win in a row. Baltimore jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first, but A-Rod put the Yankees back on top with his fourth homer in as many days, a two-run shot to deep left. That’s where things stayed until the seventh. The Yankees blew things open thanks to a big error and a big double from Derek Jeter. Mark Teixeira added a home run of his own and the rout was complete. C.C. Sabathia went seven innings, striking out seven for the win- his first at home as a Yankee.
  • Dodgers 5 Mets 3: John Maine helped his own cause with a two-run single as the Mets took the early lead. But, Casey Blake hit a three-run homer in the sixth to put the Dodgers on top for good.

The Mets are back in their September mode.

    No way, get a clue.

Jose Reyes does his rumba in September...he's obviously still on his May Samba. He still has to get through his Salsa (June), Mambo (July) and his Merengue (August).

I wonder what dance he prematurely celebrates with in October. We may never know.

Winning is better than losing. Fire Girardi!

Bruney pitched very well last night, good to see him come back so strong. The Metsies? Well, 3 in a row. I hope we don't look back in September, 1 game back, and remember Church missing 3rd or all the errors. But history tells me we will.

Tonight's best news for the Yankees: Brian Bruney comes off the DL and looks as good as he did before the injury.
