- Yankees 5 Twins 4: Down two runs entering the ninth, the Yankees turned in one of their biggest wins of the season. Brett Gardner, who had already hit an inside-the-park home run, led the inning off with a triple. Gardner scored on a RBI single from Teixeira and after A-Rod walked, the Yankees had two on and no outs. But, Matsui struck out and Swisher was robbed of a game-tying hit on a great play by Morneau. Swisher’s scorcher put the runners on second and third and with two outs the Twins elected to walk Robinson Cano and pitch to Melky Cabrera. Cabrera lined the first pitch he saw into left center, scoring two runs and winning the game.
- Mets 8 San Francisco 6: The Mets jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but Livan Hernandez dug the Mets into a big hole, giving up four runs in the first. However, the Amazin's were able to come back, thanks to David Wright's game-tying bases-loaded double in the 7th inning (Wright drove in four runs total). Francisco Rodriguez recorded his 11th save.

Put it in the books!
Mets win. 8-6.
And they did it without Jose Reyes.
Gardner wasn't even supposed to play last night, but after Damon got ejected for arguing, Gardner went 3 for 3--a single, an in-park HR, and a triple. Not bad for a scheduled day off.
"The Melk Man Delivers"
I wish John Sterling's idiotic catch phrases would go away once the radio was turned off.
Has any Yankee fan ever used the nickname "The Melk Man?" I've never heard anyone but Sterling use it, everyone else just calls him "Melky." It should stay that way.
John Sterling's worst catch phrase was for Bobby Abreu: BOBBY ABREU, SWEET AS CANDY!.
Gay beyond belief.
Dear Peter Trinkle,
Please do not headline the post reporting on today's Yankee game "An A-Bomb from A-Rod."
Thank you.
