Images of Craig C. before and during the streaks via YouTube video
Last night, a man took of his clothes and streaked across Citi Field during the Mets-Braves game's fifth inning. This morning, the Post suggests it was "maybe the best base running of the night" while the Daily News identifies the "nearly-naked doofus" with "only a stuffed animal wrapped like a thong around the middle of his strike zone for modesty" as Craig Coakley.
Coakley is expected to be arraigned on charges of interfering with a sporting event and trespassing this morning. And it looks like his friend uploaded a video of the event, which starts with Coakley saying, "Right now, I'm about to make history." Warning, the friend uses the n-word (sigh).
It's unclear whether the thong truly did utilize a Mr. Met doll. Update: After the jump, here's a view of Coakley from the front:
Also, a view of the streak from another fan—the cheers were really loud because who doesn't love a crazy streaker?

One could argue that a streaker who does not go the Full Monty is not really a streaker, just a streaker-wannabe.
"Streak on, 'Bodysuit Man'!"
What is it with morons, yelling "wooooooooo, woooooooo" into video cameras?
I like how, in the 2nd video, you see that security lets him make sure the doll is covering his area—at first they grabbed him by his arms but then just by the elbows.
I thought the n-word was gonna be nekid (sigh).
This is the most interesting thing to happen in all of baseball.
What isn't mentioned in all this is the danger to players and umpires on the field. I'm not talking about the emotional trauma of seeing this guy's Mr. Met, but the potential for physical harm if a truly deranged guy decides to jump onto the field.
So all the streakers have to suffer because of a few bad apples?
In college, I streaked two simultaneous little league games in Greensboro. Best day of my LIFE! I hope this guy's savoring this, because it's all downhill from here.
"In college, I streaked two simultaneous little league games in Greensboro."
John Del Singore is a SEXUAL PREDATOR!!!
Well, that may be, but who's John Del Singore?
Okay let me correct they typo:
"In college, I streaked two simultaneous ***little league*** games in Greensboro."
John Del Signor, gothamist blogger, is a SEXUAL PREDATOR!!!
JOHN DEL SIGNORE is a SEXUAL PREDATOR!!!
Careful people. If you continue to write that John Del Signore is a sexual predator and dangerous deviant, it will be in google forever. That could suck balls in the future.
You do know that streaking is a pastime as old as any sport, right?
Anyway, if you take away our streakers only criminals will have them...or something to that effect.
this guy's Mr. Met...ha!
You know why it isn't mentioned? Because it would be alarmist bullshit completely irrelevant to the story.
What if a deranged guy jumped in and stabbed Howard Johnson? Then it wouldn't be so funny, would it? What if the streaker gave a toddler a mushroom tattoo? What if...? What if...? What if...?
A "truly deranged guy" could do just about anything at any time. Apart from being completely uneconomical, it's senseless to try to safeguard against everything a "truly deranged guy" would do.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you voted for Nader.
I'm more worried that guidos are now calling each other the N-word than that the N word was used in general.
i guess it was better than watching the yanks get spanked by the canadians last night.
I think that should be a new term. "Hey, did you see that guy's "Mr. Met"?
There goes all the pride fans had in their "bobble-head collections".
The root of the N word never had anything to do with race - it just implied someone at the bottom of society - Arthur Rimbaud referred to himself with that word.
So it the fact that people like this use it in their speech is just another proof that my generation does not believe in the ignorant myth that is race
Cultures exist there are 1000s of cultures
Race is an imaginary concept used to bring people down
Get it right or just die off stuck in the 20th century.
You're an idiot.
For one, the etymology is fairly obvious with regard to its relation to color.
For another, whether it's initial usage was racial or not is pretty moot at this point. That's like arguing that we should wear swastikas because they are an older symbol than just Nazism. Doesn't matter what it used to be, it has a very strong, salient meaning in the current context. (Arguably the meaning of he "n-word" has changed, but its connotations of hate are still strong enough to merit caution regarding its use.)
Race may be weak concept biologically, genealogically, and even phenotypically...but its social salience is pretty damn profound. Those who pretend to live in a post-racial world, or claim not "see race" are LYING TO THEMSELVES and are foolishly, myopically ignorant. Race is real...maybe you missed the last election...maybe you've missed the last 300+ years of American history. This ain't over and to say that it is is to do a great disservice to justice.
Moreover, white boys from Long Island have no ownership of this word to use it as their own.
note that he called him 'nigga' and not nigger. while i don't agree with usage of either by white people, the former has shed any derogatory connotation. it wasn't used in a racist context in the least
Before rap music got so popular, I didn't hear this word being used very much, aside from racist bullshit. And now, way too many people use this word, because it's become part of pop culture. If rappers chose to use the word "dudes" instead, I imagine that the casual use of this word would start to go away. Most people are just a bunch of copycats that think they sound cool using that word.
Why is Gothamist breaking a long standing media tradition of not reporting on streakers? There are enough of them in professional sports already without this sort of coverage. On top of that you posted a video where some idiot yells the N word? Seriously?
umm...longstanding media tradition? one link is to a daily news article from last year covering an nyu grad's STREAKING. but maybe the daily news doesn't count to you as "media" or last year counts as "long standing."

Save this stupid stuff for Hockey.
what are the fines & penalties for streaking in NY?
The charges will probably be dropped.
Oh, the charges will not be dropped. You obviously dont know NY. There is a reason an announcement is made. Post 9/11 you will be arrested and convicted. The last person plead guilty and got 3 years probation.
I'm ashamed at you Gothamist. How dare you, a blog focusing on happenings in New York City, make a post about something that happened in New York City.

Another double post.
And I didn't care the first time.
