Cops Arrest Repeat Sex Offender On Subway

2009_05_submap2.jpg A good, if gross story about the police nabbing a serial pervert yesterday. According to the AP, the police arrested Darrel Corian "on charges of persistent sexual abuse and forcible touching." At around 9:05 a.m., police officers Michelangelo Hidalgo and Amauris Santana, who were on plainclothes assignment (part of the Anti-Crime patrol), observed Corrian acting suspiciously on the southbound platform of the 42nd Street-Lexington station at Grand Central. They followed him onto a 5 train. "Police say officers caught him rubbing his exposed penis up against at 19-year-old woman's backside, and arrested him." What's more, he had been paroled just two weeks ago "after serving time for persistent sexual abuse and was supposed to stay off buses and subways." Last month, a suspected subway perv with a long rap sheet was arrested with the help of his victim's cellphone photo of him.

He's lucky he was arrested before he got sent home with a bloody stump.

  • MisterTissue

I'm glad this guy was caught...but I sometimes wonder why I read gothamist comments ever. Under the cloak of anonymity, no one believes in human rights in this city. Cut off his penis, throw him in front of a train, kick his face in, etc.

Sure this act is despicable, but JESUS CHRIST people. The internet and anonymity is bad for humanity, I'm convinced.

  • Kreo

kicking him in the face was my comment and I stand by it. you honestly think this guy does not deserve some beating? Imagine yourself a woman having to be subjected to something like this, being scared and stressed out to death, feeling humiliated and violated. Are you a libtard or the kind of guy who would notice something like this and turn away pretending to not notice the assault? Apologize in advance for coming off offensively - just hate the idea of females close to me being mistreated like this.

  • MisterTissue

I'm not so into vigilante justice. I am into intervention and I do support the people on a train intervening...I was more concerned about the threats of death and castration. The dude should totally not be allowed to be out in society as this behavior is not conducive to civilized culture (to say the least), but he's probably sick as fuck and was molested mercilessly by some mustachioed stepfather as a kid. Doesn't make it right...of course...but if he can't be treated, he should be isolated...not, y'know, brutally assaulted.

I agree...perhaps vigilante justice isn't the best way to go..but this guy needs to be castrated, literally. At least chemically castrated if he is going to be allowed to continue to walk our streets--same goes for all repeat sex offenders, sexual abusers, rapists, etc.

  • Rfive

so why is this news? aren't cops supposed to catch criminals?

  • hungryghoast

An event happens in the city and it is reported. That's what makes it news. It doesn't have to be surprising for it to be news. You could make this claim for just about any story on this or any news site.

ever hear of a crime blotter? They're usually pretty common in NEWS sources.

Don't be ridiculous and try not to use this complaint again.

  • Kreo

So my UPS delivery guy brought me a package last night, ON TIME and as expected! Why is he not in the news? I think something like this was the point of RFive, although I do not necessary share that point.

  • Rocknrope

You don't share his point, but you give a bad example supporting it? Maybe you should just keep quiet.

  • Apples and Peaches

Hold up...so they waiting till he was physically abusing this girl before they got him? How humiliating and degrading for her to be used as bait. Poor girl. If they saw him acting suspicious enough to follow him they should have stopped him before he had the chance to attack. Unacceptable.

  • dadoc

Au contraire, acceptable. Suspicious is not a crime. Followed, observed, crime-in-progress, nabbed, charged, hopefully revocation of parole, new charge, reinstatement of parole sentence, violation(s) of parole added, add up some slammer time. Had they just grabbed the guy for suspicious, likely nothing. Probably be raping some vic in front of MTA employees next. Unpleasant, yes, but prob better to bag him on something that sticks rather than a questionable p-viol.

  • GoToHell

Are you sure he wasn't a Sexual PREDATOR??????

  • thats nastee

  • Steven

Should have kicked him in the balls couple of times.

  • DanielJ

Is there some sort of way to recognize plainclothes officers upon further inspection? Not to avoid them or anything, but it'd be cool to be able to say "Hey, you see how those two guys are wearing ______? They're cops."

  • jaycjay

Seriously... watch for cargo pants. And a chain around the neck. Sure, neither of those things are exclusive to plainclothes cops, and neither will be true with every cop, but it's a start.

  • that could be any city walker. you need to look for a certain type

  • look in the Standz at a hockey game. that should give them away.

  • Dead Himmler

Just keep your penis to yourself on the subway and you will be fine.

What a wonderful way to start off yr week!
