- Yankees 4, Orioles 0: For a team that hadn't held a lead since Saturday, Alex Rodriguez's first at-bat presented a great opportunity. He came up with two runners on and one out in the first inning, and he didn't disappoint. Rodriguez, playing in his first game following hip surgery and steroid accusations, unloaded on the pitch, giving the Yankees a 3-0 lead. CC Sabathia allowed hits to the first two Orioles he faced but then retired 23 of the next 24 and finished a four-hit shutout. He struck out nine and walked only one. The two most expensive Yankees earned their salary for a night. Rodriguez did have two strikeouts and didn't reach base in his other three plate appearances. The Yankees snapped a five-game losing streak with this win.
- Mets 7, Pirates 2: Jon Niese didn't earn the win, but he pitched well enough to. He allowed two runs in six innings, striking out five and walking none. Carlos Delgado had a two-run single in the first and then a three-run homer in the eighth to provide the bulk of the Mets' offense. New York has now won five straight games.

Steriod ADMISSION, not accusation.
Delgado gives all us old guys hope.
Basking in the glory of steriods, cheating, high ticket prices, and bad character. What a way to celebrate a pathetic fall of a formerly great team.
The A-Rod story could also be spun as getting lucky on one pitch and then stinking up the joint the other times he was at the plate.
Every hitter should "stink up the joint" with a 3-run home run each night.
The point is we're probably looking at a season where there will be a lot more 2K nights than 3-run homer games.
Abbsolutely. Even more 2-strikeout nights than home runs at all. He'll probably spend the whole season striking out more often than he homers. Kind of like Babe Ruth, who struck out 1,330 times while only hitting 714 home runs. Or Hank Aaron, who struck out 1,383 times while hitting just 755 homers.
I bet A-Rod will even hit some home runs without even waiting for two of his teammates get on base so he could hit a 3-run homer. He's that selfish.
Typical, He will produce until late in the season. He must stop taking the steroids just in time for the playoffs.
