Air Force One NYC Flyover Photo Will Be Released

2009_05_afi1.jpg After initially saying that the photographs from the NYC flyover made by the Presidential Airlift Group (which includes the plane that is Air Force One when the President is on board) would not be released, the White House has decided that an image will be released after all. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, who had previously said, "I've watched CNN. I didn't notice a lack of archival material from that flight," now tells reporters, "The report, I believe, will be concluded at some point this week. We'll release its findings and release a photo." The flight cost over $328,000 and was apparently spurred by the White House Military Office's desire to update its file photos of Air Force One near the canyons of buildings in lower Manhattan.

Who's doing the voice over and what might I ask is it saying?

  • sj

Glad to hear they're releasing it, if they went through that much crap then they might as well have a good photo to show for it.

  • It's sad that the new administration can't ever stick to a decision they make. We won't prosecute for water-boarding. We will prosecute for water-boarding. We'll adopt a dog. We'll let Ted Kennedy hand us one. No bonuses for AIG. Well, just the $425bil. We won't release the pictures from the incredibly dumbassed photo shoot. We will release them.

Seriously, what's the matter with these bozos? Are they trying to make The (former) Decider look good?!

There hasn't been any reversal on torture prosecutions.

The dog is inconsequential to the affairs of the nation.

The bonuses could not have legally been prevented.

The fly-by is also largely inconsequential, but we paid for it so we might as well get to see the shots. Would you rather they stick to a knee-jerk position that is wrong?

  • longacre

I don't remember any promises for waterboarding prosecutions.

It's all so confusing being the first elected half black president and it came on so fast that we will get back to you as soon as we get settled in. Plus we got this new dog that is taking a shit on the rug that Jackie O, oops Jackie Kennedy put in the kids room. Give us time to adjust please.

"White House Military Office" Is this the new version of the praetorian guards that were last seen during the decline and fall of Rome?

That seems like a reasonable way to spend between a quarter and a half million dollars in these times.

I agree, in this day and age of technology(which the new White House seems like such an advocate for) couldn't they have used a recent regular aerial shot and photoshopped air force one in, even made a contest for local school students or something. I mean if they can justify this cost, why shouldn't the big car execs fly private corporate if a camera can.

$328,000 is really not that much money - just try to find a one bedroom apartment in Manhattan for that much (a NICE one bedroom) ...

  • Mr Mel

The worst part is, if there was an attack we wouldn't believe it.

  • dimadelux

They better release it in HQ, cause i need a new wallpaper
