There will also be a special Chocolate Tequila Sorbet and Tanteo Jalapeno Tequila Gelato (1 scoop for 50 cents) made by Il Laboratorio del Gelato. The big beautiful Bell House in Gowanus is throwing down with the 2009 "Guactacular Invitational." Toloache restaurant in midtown is celebrating with "Margarita Madness" through Friday [menu pdf]. In addition to a beefed up dinner menu, they're offering a wide range of fancy margaritas, such as the Moras, made with El Tesoro Blanco, muddled blackberry, fresh lime, and Combier orange. The popular Cabrito restaurant in the West Village has double the excuse to party tomorrow; their goat has been returned and it's their first anniversary. Throughout the day they'll be offering their $9 brunch drink special, which will gets you a choice of three Bloody Marys, Sangrias, or Mimosas. At 4 p.m., the Cinco de Mayo Happy Hour kicks off with $5 margaritas, $3 Coronas, and pints ($3) / pitchers ($12) of Dos Equis. The regular happy hour menu will be complemented by a special street food menu featuring assorted tacos, flautas and tostadas. Elegant yet casual French Mexican fusion restaurant Crema is hosting five hours of happy hour from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., featuring 2-for-1 beers, sangria (agua loca) and margaritas $6-$13. All three Mercadito restaurants will have a live mariachi band; at the Avenue B Mercadito there's a huge Cinco de Mayo tasting menu for $30 per person, which starts with guacamole and—many tacos and ceviches later—culminates with orange flan. The restaurant will also be pushing $6 shots of Herradura tequila, which Mercadito Grove in the West Village will also be pouring. At Mercadito Cantina, they're doing $5 shots of their unique tric-quila blend, which blends sake to deliciously evoke the taste of tequila. P.S. May 5th is Japanese Boy's day. Why don't families in the U.S. hang carp windsocks outside of their homes, one for each son in the family, to fly in the wind??? Couldn't everyone get drunk on Sake? Oh wait, that's a Japanese holiday so we don't celebrate it...oh wait......
