April Heat Wave!

Cool, cloudy weather got you down this week? Fear not; what passes for an April heat wave will be here for the weekend. Why? The Bermuda High is making its first northward foray of the season, bringing July-like warmth to much of the East Coast.

With high pressure over the area, the city will see sunny skies today and a high near 70. Tomorrow will be much warmer. Look for Saturday temperatures to reach the mid 80s, which is twenty degrees warmer than normal. The combination of heat and sun so early in the season has led the Parks Department to issue a "pasty white flesh" alert for McCarren Park. Break out your sunglasses and sunscreen.

The Bermuda High's mettle gets tested on Sunday when a cold front tries to push it back south. Smart money is on the high, but there's a slight chance for showers in the afternoon. Sunday should warm up to the mid 80s if not higher. Clear skies again on Monday but it will be a cooler 82.
