Philip Markoff, the Boston University medical student suspected of killing a NYC woman at a Boston hotel, has been put on suicide watch. ABC News reports that prison officials apparently found shoelace marks around the 23-year-old's neck, "Markoff was moved from the general population of Boston's Nashua Street jail to a segregated unit where officers can keep a constant eye on him." In the meantime, the father of Markoff's fiancee Megan McAllister told reporters, "She's still confident in Phil. Other than that we’re saying a lot of prayers." Also: A Facebook page has been created: "Phil Markoff is Innocent Until Proven Guilty."

Can I get the job to watch him? Does it pay hourly?
If/when this guy is found guilty, will his fiance's family try to pray him out of prison?
i thought shoelaces were taken from anyone arrested and placed in the clink.
A med student who cant manage to kill himself? Or was this one of those "cry for help" attempts.
Oh yeah, praying and making a facebook page.
Two tried and tested methods of changing whats already been done.
Why is it that the scum they always put on "Suicide Watch" are the ones you actually want to put on "Suicide Ignore"?
The state should charge people to watch him commit suicide.
....because the first thing I would do if I knew I was innocent would be to hang myself by my shoelaces.
The Blackberry will convict him in this case.
although it does appear very bad for markoff, i would be hesistant to jump to conclusions. several years ago some friends of mine were accused of a sensational murder and immediately "convicted" in the press. a week later, the real murderer tried to kill himself, leaving a confessional suicide note. he was ultimately convicted at trial. i was very proud that i never for a moment questioned their innocence, even when everyone was calling for their heads. "innocent before proven guilty" is in the constitution for a reason.
While I agree in principle, was there overwhelming physical evidence against your friends?
They have a treasure trove of evidence already, multiple instances of ip addresses tied to Markoff related to two separate craigslist ads which resulted in crimes, fingerprints, victims items in his possession, surveillance cameras with images of Markoff at Copley with times correlating to the time before the crime happened and after. A positive ID from one robbery victim already.
No murder weapon though.
I want more proof! Rational reasoning isn't enough!
Well, they did find a gun. It just has to undergo ballistics tests before it is proven as the murder weapon.
Saw the news this morning. The gun they found in his apartment was the gun used in the murder.
All that and I'm imagining that it's only a matter of time before the DNA results come back.
Why would he do such a thing?? At his age
I thought I read somewhere that they found a gun in a hollowed out Gray's Anatomy Book also.
If only his victims had 'hesitation marks'.
He is on suicide watch so he doesn't have to be in the prison population. I'm sure he's getting beat up and r aped. Isolation is his only way.
Yes he can have shoelaces in jail. Once he is found guilty he has to give up all his clothes as he goes into the state prison system. (not that I have any personal experience on this... just from what I see on television :-)
It would be nice if people reserved judgement until he's gone to trial.... but I guess the evidence so far seems pretty bad for him.
