Maybe Pollsters Should Ask Voters How Funny Paterson Is

Maybe what upsets Governor Paterson most about the Saturday Night Live portrayals he says crossed the line and hurt him isn't so much their content, but his frustration in wishing that he was the one who was sitting at the Weekend Update desk. After seeing him send up the infamous health care union 1199 ads over the weekend, we think Paterson could put together a pretty solid audition tape.

Creating an aura similar to Snoop Dogg performing "Murder Was the Case" once upon a time, Paterson was wheeled to the stage of the Legislative Correspondents Association gala portraying the blind man in the wheelchair from the commercial who asked the governor, "Why are you doing this to me?" The five-minute performance by Paterson legitimately brought down the house, even getting some ohnohedin't "ohhhs" when he calls out the Post's Fred Dicker's "phony sources."

The video was captured by Elizabeth Benjamin of the Daily News, who sounds like she enjoyed it as much as we did. We'll echo her sentiment in insisting that you watch it until the end, where Paterson pulls out some moves that may be enough to rid himself of the "Accidental Governor" title once and for all.
