Though it came out in 2000 for a CAE Gallery show, this NYC subway map interpretation is spreading its seed all over the internet today, giving the tip of Manhattan a whole new meaning. Get the larger (NSFW?) version here—it's good for puns, or just general observations. And sorry to break it to you New Jersey, but it looks like Manhattan's just not that into you (also doesn't look like Manhattan is very well endowed). Wonder what Michael Hertz, designer of the original map, would think of all this. [via Kottke]

NO. But I bet Kari Ferrell's got a hard on for it.
penis is the new black.
Carlson, Carlson, Carlson...
Gothamist was better off when it was shilling for Bokaj vodka.
MMMMmmm Bokaj!
(it's Jakob backwards)
But a penis doesn't really have bones in it, like a spine, like in this picture, right?
The artist seems a little fixated.

I agree though the design does give me an idea, what about a topographic subway map?
Looks like Manhattan's uncircumsized.
It is just a transfiguration of this city's cultural values
Awesome to know I live on the outer ballsack of New York City :)
No, baby, I promise Manhattan is big enough to satisfy you -- it just looks small because of this unseasonable cold front passing across town!
So I'm guessing Staten Island is just a stain on the map?
Can you imagine what would happen to Jersey City and Hoboken if Manhattan watched a porno movie?
It's not really shown on this map, but Broadway runs where the urethra would be, in a downtown direction no less. Where Broadway meets the tip is where a bunch of ferries emerge, moving outward to various destinations, one of which is a giant statue of a woman .
There was... shrinkage!
I guess the corner of Seaman and Cumming Streets are irrelevant in this context.
No, no, it was Michael's brother who originally designed the map. Now what was his name... oh right - Dick Hertz.
What does that make Staten Island?
"also doesn't look like Manhattan is very well endowed"
Nah ... I just think it's because Manhattan has big balls.
