Authorities Look For Sicko Who Burned Kittens In Drawer

2009_04_kittwspca.jpg This is horrible: MyFoxNY reports that firefighters, responding to a call in Mount Vernon, "found four kittens inside a burning desk drawer in an apartment building."

The Westchester SPCA believes "someone set fire to papers in the drawer inside a basement of the building and then left the kittens to die" on Easter Sunday. The two-week-old kittens were rescued and are all recovering: Two had singed fur and another had a cut. The kittens apparently "survived by moving to the back of the drawer while the front burned." Aww.

The SPCA and Mount Vernon police are investigating and asking for anyone with information to call the SPCA's confidential 24-hour cruelty hot line at 914-941-7797. Additionally, WABC 7 reports that the SPCA "says they've received several emails and calls from people who are interested in adopting the kittens. Officials said it will be at least five weeks before the kittens can be adopted. For the time being, they are staying with an SPCA volunteer who is an expert in bottle feeding kittens."

If there is an afterlife or a God, I truly hope these sicko losers are subjected to the same horrors they inflicted upon innocent humans and/or animals.

  • mdow

much, much harsher penalties are warranted here. what's with the increase in animal abuse in the news--is it more cases, or just more attention being given to it by the media? i certainly hope it's the latter, but it's unclear what the case really is. maybe with more media coverage, a little more public outcry, and more aggressive prosecution and penalty? i'm really glad the kittens lived, and really sorry that humans suck so much ass, and i really hope the sick son of a bitch gets treated like he deserves to be. okay, now on to trying to calm my nerves and stomach...

  • firewire

so how can i adopt one of these kittens?

  • Spirit of 76

    Contact the SPCA.

Their phone number is there if you don't want to email them. You'll have to convince them you'd be a better owner than any of the other people who have contacted them.

    Disgusting.

Why can't everyone agree that burning kittens is a shitty, shitty, horrible thing to do and just leave it at that??? Every post doesn't have to be a chance to show off your (often non-existent) wit.

  • Amanda Harletsch

I wish it was wit what people use!

Most of the cynics that post here are merely attempting at a lame type of cruel humor...you know your typical thug mentality that thinks compassion is for suckers: the fiber that makes the useless many.

  • pete

So what happened to drowning them like normal people? Serial killer and pyro in the making?

Fuck turning this turd into the proper authorities. Put him in a locked wooden box and set it on fire. Also, stay on guard outside the box with a shotgun in case he tries to get out.

what sucks is the perp is probably the owner of the mother cat and could have avoided the whole thing if they'd just gotten the mom cat spayed. Westchester SPCA offers low-cost spay/neuter services.

And not to make more trouble but I would be remiss if I didn't point out that if PETA got involved they would most likely have the kittens killed. However, they are good at "unleashing their crazy" on their intended targets :)

  • felixthecat2

Peta does not burn kittens alive, they euthanize sick dogs from puppy mills and injured dogs from dog fighting rings. Go after the breeders and the dog fighters and not the groups that want to end the cruelty. Also there was this woman who beat her poodle to death and threw the dog in the garbage in a suitcase.

    http://queenscrap.blogspot.com/2009/03/people-are-real-animals.html

I been trying to find out who she is. I would love to get my hands on her.

  • jimmylegs

check out http://petakillsanimals.com/ they have a horrible track record for the animals they have for 'adoption,' they end up 'euthanizing' thousands of perfectly healthy pets. but i do agree, ultimately let's go after the situations that create a group like peta in the first place.

  • felixthecat2

This website was created by fur, meat, seal hunter and other industries criticized by Peta. look at the source. Go after the breeders and the dog fighters.

  • jimmylegs

point taken, but peta should not be the go-to org for animal rights issues.

  • felixthecat2

understood but I wish people focus their attacks on the animals exploiters and abusers instead of attacking Peta. Peta is one of the few orgs out there fighting against cruelty for all animals not just cats and dogs. So I support Peta because I am against animal cruelty. peace

  • Elm Street

    dude, who promotes that website?

You miss the point by miles.

  • ohgoodgolly

Oh good god. It's shit like this that makes me feel like the punishment for animal abuse should be closer to the punishment for child abuse. Whoever did this clearly enjoyed the act, or they would have just dumped the kittens somewhere. I hope a PETA activist gets to him/her first, unleashes their crazy on the pyro and THEN turns them over to the cops.

  • felixthecat2

if I could get my hands on him i would

  • Global Wombat

Then to complete the circle of justice, have that PETA nut get hit by a tanker hauling Purina puppy show.

  • Vertigone

No, I can attest that I would be appalled if 4 pigs, or cows, or chickens were burned alive as well.

  • Felix Hoenikker

Really? That actually might smell pretty good.

  • BrooklynBredTom

Okay okay, not trying to be didactic. It certainly came off that way. I apologize. But this stuff seems to only make people gasp when it's an animal generally considered "cute and cuddly." I have 3 stray cats and I'm not saying this isn't extremely sad and upsetting. But choosing to be ignorant to this because it's not right in front of you, but it's always going on (you know where, yeah yeah...), is called dissonance. Dissonance has never been a good thing. But, I firmly believe in "to each their own." Just commenting, it helps with the procrastination I indulge in to avoid actual important things.

    serial killer in the making....

  • MaiaW

Ugh. I realize that animals are put down every single day due to overcrowding at shelters, but at least it's done in a humane way. This...this there are no words for. At least it sounds like they'll all get homes.

  • Amanda Harletsch

total lack of empathy and respect for life...this psycho is a real danger for all those that He deems defenseless.

  • BrooklynBredTom

    Do you guys eat meat?

  • graybanks

    Fuck you.

  • Rocknrope

Yes, eating meat is exactly like burning kittens alive.

  • hotstepper

yeah, but we wait until after the animal is dead to grill it. delicious...

  • Global Wombat

    Oh god. Here it comes...

  • GoToHell

Catch the Mother Fuckers who did this and set THEM on fire, but not before beating them to a pulp first.

WNBC said all four kittens survived.

  • Offbalance

The only proper punishment for the waste of blood who did this is to have him/her set on fire. It's only fair.

    Poor kitties. :(

  • Global Wombat

To clarify: The Fox News story botches up its wording, implying (as I perceived it) that only two of the kittens survived.

    However, the ABC story states:

The kittens, which are about two weeks old, are safe and recuperating.

I can only hope this applies for all four of the little buggers. :(

  • helenback

So sick... at least it is heartening to know that things like this are not tolerated and elicit a plethora of public outrage.

  • PKinNYC

    TWO WORDS: SICK FUCK

  • JacqueMehoff

saw it last night on the news,

the spca officer said they need to find this guy because he'll move on to humans next. and need the help of the residents with any info they can provide.

and the mommy cat is probably a stray that's in the building or surrounding area.

Good god almighty what the fuck is wrong with people?????? This makes me sick...

  • jibbly

    Unbelievably horrendous...

  • TheKlaus

    I wish I didn't read this.

  • Brooklynbobby

I wish I didn't read it either. Now I'll be sick all day.

  • Rocknrope

There are days when I really hate the human race. After reading this article, this is one of them.

  • TrippinJoJo

    agreed.

  • valeriob

I thought I read "Sea Kittens" and flinched.

    Poor kittehs.

  • nicemarmot

What the hell is wrong with people? Why the hell would you even do something like that? It was too much effort to dump the kittens outside?
