The rollout of Eliot Spitzer 2.0 continued with an appearance on last night's Saturday Night Live. All right, so it may not have been the actual "Love Gov," who has been popping up recently on various talk shows. But even just having Bill Hader as Spitzer show up in a signature left field ending in this underage bar sketch last night felt like further confirmation that the former governor has returned to the conversation.
Without many expectations on Zac Efron, the tween sensation did a more than serviceable job as host of one of the most consistently funny episodes of the season. And is it just us or has the production for SNL's musical guests really stepped up this year? Of course it doesn't hurt when the stage is being set for the likes of local rockers Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
After the jump is video of the band pulling out the classic move of playing an old, beloved hit for their second song ("Maps") as well as a couple of Weekend Update character bits. Hader and Fred Armisen play a gay couple from the Garden State celebrating their recent political victories and Michaela Watkins reprises her blogger character Angie Tempura, who hits just a little too close to home for some of us. Watch out for the Jersey Guyz shout out to Amy Poehler—next week the show pays the former cast member a well-deserved tribute with the premiere of her "Best of" episode.
