Woody Harrelson says that he had some unsavory characters on the brain when getting into an altercation with a TMZ photographer at a local airport earlier this week—zombies. The cameraman is accusing Harrelson of breaking his equipment and hitting him after he was following the actor and his daughter out of a terminal at La Guardia. Harrelson released a statement about the incident saying, "I wrapped a movie called 'Zombieland,' in which I was constantly under assault by zombies, then flew to New York, still very much in character. With my daughter at the airport I was startled by a paparazzo, who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie." CNN points out that in the film, Harrelson plays "the most frightened person on Earth" looking for refuge from zombies. A Port Authority spokesman said, "We're looking into this allegation and if it's warranted, we'll turn it over to the proper authorities." Harrelson is a longtime advocate for the legalization of marijuana.

Zombies, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
mr. parker,
just curious, but what on earth does marijuana have to do with this incident? harrelson may be crazy, but are you suggesting it's because he smokes a lot? not sure i agree with that...
From my experience, generally, a man does not mistake people with cameras for science fiction characters unless they are under the influence of mind altering substances or are mentally ill.
Ever smoke marijuana?
No kidding.
Am I the only person on gothamist who noticed that Harrelson was obviously joking? Really?
Except when it, quite understandably, is a JOKE!!!!
It might be a joke, but he says batshit things pretty often, which is what makes me think he might be serious.
And if it is a joke, it's in poor taste. I think TMZ is pretty vile, but that doesn't give anyone the right to assault them or damage their equipment. Instead of issuing funny statements, Harrelson should be mailing a check to the photographer whose camera he busted.
Maybe he's just plain batshit then. Did his character from Cheers (or any other role) ever lead you to think he was a rational, intelligent person? Entertaining, hell yes. But seriously, if weed made you see zombies, this country would be a helluva lot more interesting.
And if it is a joke, it's in poor taste. I think TMZ is pretty vile, but that doesn't give anyone the right to assault them or damage their equipment.
I think it does. TMZ and papparazzis in general are sociopaths who clearly have no respect for boundaries-- and get away with it because they're so called "journalists." But stalkers and harassers by any other name are stalkers and harassers.
Remember, these were the ppl who seemed to want to help drive Britney Spears to suicide in order to cover her "tragic, untimely death" like they did Anna Nicole Smith. They take pictures of celebrities' children to post them on their website to ridicule, and print slander and lies (like when they claimed Will Smith said that he thought Hitler was a decent person). Pretty soon they will be publishing corpses of future dead celebrities who died under tragic circumstances. You'll see.
So if these sociopaths need to learn what people's boundaries are with an occasional assault, so be it. They have to learn somehow, since pleas and requests go ignored.
yea, i smoke a lot of weed and it doesn't make you see zombies (i.e., hallucinate)! it's not exactly peyote, prig...
he'll always be woody from cheers to me. zombies or no zombies.
I'm sorry your honor, I'd been playing Grand Theft Auto for HOURS so when the officer stopped me I shot him 57 times because I thought he was part of the video game.
Flashback?
Zombies were people too.
Zombies generally avoid LGA. They prefer the crowd over at Newark Liberty.
i, for one, welcome our new zombie overlords.
great Simpsons reference!
I hear it's legal to hunt them in Costa Rica. Not zombies.
WHAT THE HELL DOES THE LAST SENTENCE HAVE TO DO WITH ANY OF THIS?
I like how you totally ignore the fact that the man was coming from the airport with his DAUGHTER and this tard comes and acts like a total douche. It boggles my mind that Woody is getting the blame in this one.
Yeah, why is it that the guy who throws the first punch always gets the blame?
And Woody's attitude should be expected... anyone familiar with his father, the infamous criminal?
I recommend The Men Who Killed Kennedy, it's hysterical watching him talk, same comedic tone as Woody.
