A woman tells the Post about her terrible cab ride: Yolanda Rodriguez claims that her driver punched her... because she threw up in the cab after he refused to stop speeding. She explained, "I get motion sickness and he was driving really, really fast. I said, 'I'll throw up in the car,' but he wouldn't slow down." She and a friend hailed a cab driven by Gurpreet Singh at Broadway and West 65th around 11:30 p.m. last week; after Rodriguez's unheard plea for him to stop speeding and her bout of motion sickness, Singh allegedly yelled, ''Get the f--- out of my car. Get out of my car right now. You guys are whores and bitches.'" Rodriguez says that when she asked him not to say that, he hit her—then she hit him back and he "began walloping her, punching her on the forehead head so hard she fell down." Singh was charged with third degree assault and suspended by the TLC for the time being. When the Post called him, Singh responded, "Don't f----- bother me, f---."

"i'll throw up in the car" sounds like a threat
if you get motion sickness so easily that you will throw up moments after saying you will, seriously get out of the taxi, they're not for you. get a segway or some dramamine
It is not a thread because she knows she suffers from motion sickness. She is alerting him of what will happen if he does not slow down.
Ah NY... so hitting women is the new black?!
hehe, yes. That and traveling Peeps (http://tinyurl.com/c3kbaq)
Um, yeah. I got "motion sickness" once in a cab, too.
Terrible!
A Cabbie kicked me and my friend, who was on crutches, out of his cab for being impatient while he made a personal stop along the way to our destination to 'drop something off'.
I called the TLC to complain and had all the right information. They just make it so damn inconvenient for you to make your case, and mandate you show up for the case or it gets thrown out.
Good for those girls for following through!
That taxi phone line is the worst. I once left something in a cab and called the number. An answering device came on and asked for my name and number. I did and never heard from anyone. A while later I got into a cab and as I was exiting I found a wallet, I picked it up and put in my pocket. There was cash, credit cards and IDs in it. I looked up the guy's phone number and called him. He picked it up at my workplace, offered me a reward which I refused, we shook hands and he left. Had the cabbie found it, the odds are he'd never see it again.
"You guys are whores and bitches." Niiiiice. I bet she didn't say "don't call us that" all that politely.
he sounds like a nice guy.
Funny, it sounds just like the angry cab driver character from GTA 4.
Actually, from the "you are bitches and whores" comment, it sounds just like the Armenian guy:

Albanian
Right, sorry. My apologies to all Armenians.
I think they need to give all cabbies mental evaluations, current and any future hires.
I've had cabbies doing coke while driving, not the most reassuring feeling and you do feel a bit trapped.
I can tell you from recent experience, Cab drivers are getting MUCH worse. I used to have one bad one for every 50 rides... It's now to the point of 47 for every 50. I barely tip anymore.
They swear, scream/yell, preach religion, slam on the brakes, smoke, blare the radio, talk on the phone, take alternate routes, and sometimes I can't even get one to pick me up at all, their roof light will be on, but they drive on by... That is why when these guys scream poverty i never buy into it—they're not doing that bad, if they were they wouldn't be driving at all.
"Don't f----- bother me, f---."
Oh, that will sure help his case with both the TLC and in court. Some people simply shouldn't deal with the public, period.
Mmmhmm. Motion Sickness...are we sure the woman hadn't been drinking perhaps, it was 11:30pm after all. I'm not ready to buy this story until I see the bruises and not take some lady's word for it.
I could see calling someone a bitch if they had just puked in my cab after being rowdy drunks.
11:30pm and drunk already? I guess that's possible. But if I were the cab driver and knew I was right, I would use the Post to explain myself instead of telling them to f# off. So it is reasonable to guess that he is guilty as charged.
most of the time if you treat cab drivers with respect and not like your maid, they arent too bad. these guys arent media saavy, thats why they're cab drivers... that doesnt make them guilty.
"I'm not ready to buy this story until I see the bruises"
Cops must have seen them in order for him to have been charged with third degree assault.
I get motion sickness in cabs too -- and have definitely had moments of extreme queasiness as a result of careless driving.
I almost never take cabs because of this.
Great way to get out of paying your fare.
Great way to get out of paying your fare.
"he began walloping her, punching her on the forehead head so hard she fell down."
Whoa there Hop Singh; here in Amerika you have to MARRY the biatch before you can do THAT.
Was this guy wearing a towel on his head?
I rarely take cabs because of motion sickness. A lot of you are saying she was probably drinking, but it is really likely that she just gets motion sick in cabs. I can ride in a normally-driven car perfectly fine, but the sudden stops, abrupt acceleration and swerving in a cab make me really motion sick.
Cabs can definitely make motion sickness worse—especially when you have a cab with no shocks.
Me too. I avoid cabs as much as possible because they make me feel so ill (though I haven't barfed in one...yet.) It's all the stop-start-stop-start that gets me.
may this reduce the number of drunk idiots.
For all these people who get motion sickness in cabs, my apologies to you, but as long as a cabby gets me from point A to point B without killing me or any pedestrians, I believe that's the only part of the social contract they're required to live up to.
If the cops choose to pull a cabby over for driving like a psycho, so be it, but they are hardly the only psychos on the roads here. Also, they are from foreign countries that make NY drivers look tame, so all you motion sickness people out there should probably stick to the US and Canada.
Also, I could be wrong, but I'm siding on the "this girl was drunk" team. I got "motion sickness" in January of 2008, mostly got it out of the window, and the cabby couldn't have been nicer to me. For that and the fact that none of them have killed me, I am grateful.
Although I am not a certified doctor I have a few suggestions for those who get sick riding in a cab.
If you are expecting to ride in a cab take Dramamine.
Secondly don't drink in excess before taking a cab home after getting totally shit faced on cheap wine and PBRs.
Third and final solution: Don't take cabs.
I mean really people if you get sick while using a cab, isn't it obvious that you and cabs don't get along well together? Is there something you don't understand in this equation?
