Last Night's Action: Why Start Winning Now?

  • Knicks 112 Toronto 103: New York won a game they would have been much better off losing. With Toronto directly ahead of them in the standings, the Knicks win brings them only a ½-game behind the Raptors. If they keep winning and pass Toronto, they will most likely lower their draft position, which is really all that matters at this point. But, the Knicks won anyway and did it with a nice night from the field. Seven players scored in double figured and while Chris Bosh scored 31 points, the Knicks played enough defense to secure the victory.
  • Nets 96 Philadelphia 67: New Jersey dominated the Sixers with a balanced attack and a solid defense. Philadelphia only managed to shoot 35% from the field and seven Nets scored in double figures.
  • Chicago 1 Red Bulls 0: It has not been a good start to the season for the Red Bulls as they are now winless in three games and have scored only one goal. Sunday’s loss was made worse by the fact that Chicago had to play a man down for almost the entire game, but the Red Bulls still couldn’t take advantage of it.

Really unless you're one of the bottom five or six teams in the league, which the Knicks are not, the difference in the odds in getting the number one pick between one slot and another is minute. Generally, a difference of about 1%. That's, of course, intended to discourage just what you're encouraging, a team purposely tanking to get that advantage.
