Last Night's Action: A Win!

2009_03_dev403.jpg Devils 5 Tampa Bay 4 (OT): What has happened to Martin Brodeur? He certainly doesn’t look like himself, but he did just enough to push the Devils to a win on Friday.

Brodeur came into the game with the Devils losing 1-0, thanks to an injury to Kevin Weekes and he struggled. He made only 7 saves, but New Jersey’s stifling defense held the Lightning to only 10 shots over the final 40 minutes of the game. That allowed the Devils’ offense to kick it into gear and they responded with three goals in the second and a fourth one in the third.

It was all tied up after regulation until Zach Parise scored on a beautiful pass from Travis Zajac to win the game and break the Devils’ losing streak.

The Devils have been playing like dog crap lately and would not have gotten into this game if it hadn't been for the terrible play committed by the Tampa goalie where he threw his stick at the puck leading to a penalty shot... which was scored on.

Hockey is a sport of momentum, and if you do garbage like that, you'd better believe a disciplined like the Devils, no matter how badly they've been playing recently, will jump all over you.
