Graffiti Gal "Utah" Unmasked!

0409utah.jpg

New Yorker Danielle Bremner (aka Utah, Dani, Erin) has been called one half of the tag-happy, globetrotting Bonnie & Clyde, and following her arrest last year she's been on a less glamorous tour of regional courtrooms. Earlier this week she was charged in Queens—all in all the daughter of a retired police officer faces charges in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Boston and France. But does this look like the face of an international criminal?

she looks like death itself.

sorry stupid white girl doing ugly booooring 'graffiti for what purpose? to gain some 'street cred'. god get a life. go deface yourself. Im so sick of this unimaginative use of spraypaint. I dont care who does it.

go deface yourself.

She already did. Look at her. Those huge bags under her eyes make her look well into her 30s, not 27. Too many hours of inhaling spray paint aerosols.

do people really care about this story beyond the fact that it's an excuse to argue about the merits of graffiti and recite the usual complaints about advertising, capitalism, and mainstream culture?

don't really understand why gothamist appears devoted to portraying graffiti as a sort cool component of the uber cool 1970's and 80's. as someone who lived here then i would just say that for every piece that was nice to look at, there were thousands of others that were a blight, with no artistic value at all. overall, it did contribute to the air of lawlessnes that pervaded the city...let'st say that one feels much safer on the trains nows and cleanliness DOES have something to do with it.

I'd like to ask this bitch why she thought she had a right to do what she was doing. Why she thought it was okay to deface public and private property. To ask what she thinks about the amount of money it takes to get this shit cleaned up, and see how she defends herself.

Streetsy - "Streetsy is a daily street art site. Our goal is to create the largest curated street art site on the web. Each day, I post 7-10 pictures of street art, and dozens of pictures get added to the Streetsy pool on Flickr by fellow streetart fans."
Owned, registered, created, designed and updated by Jake Dobkin.

Let's find out where Dobkin lives and grafitti his home, or his car if he has one.

Better, let's spray paint some graffiti across his effing forehead.

Think his philistine attitude would change?

Be careful. The next time you try to log in to Gothamist, you might get the message "Permission Denied" for insulting the Great Leader.

maybe i'm somewhat ignorant concerning the terminology, but when you say "street art" does that signify graffiti?

I don't say "street art." Jake does. I say "criminal vandalism."

I for one find it interesting. But that may just be me.

LOL Streetsy-Reykjavik. I'm sure all those unemployed aspirants to their 'Nordic Singapore" have plenty of free time to shit all over their city and document each bowel movement, hoping to someday grace a Bjork cover. But there won't be a Bjork cover because they illegally download all her music too.

Did you notice that the Streetsy page design is about as hideously laughable as the graffiti it glorifies? I should submit it to Webpagesthatsuck.com.

She's cute, her graffiti's fine, and who cares if Gothamist has a favorable disposition towards it in general. Yes it's illegal, Yes there are stakes and she got busted. are there laws you break? Yes graffiti can be terribly done and annoying but her's seems ok to me- not too fancy, not too many doodles. Drawing on walls can be very fun, it feels like being a kid.

It looks like the face of someone who thinks she's too special to be responsible for her actions.

"But does this look like the face of an international criminal?" What difference does it make? If she committed crimes all over the city and in France, then yeah, it looks *exactly* like the face of an international criminal. If she were black or Latin, or for that matter if she were overweight and angry, would you be writing in such an "aw shucks, just leave her alone" kind of tone?

why would it not look like the face of an international criminal? take a look at the faces on wall st. she could just as easily be the face of a day-trading "little eichmann"

Just noticed....Gothamist likes to file Graffiti aka vandalism stories under "Arts and Events". Yes that's right people, ARTS.

It's so telling that so many of these comments -- and even the post itself -- center on how she LOOKS. If this were a man, would so much emphasis be placed on the person's appearance. The answer is NO. This makes me so angry.

Throw up a picture of the asshole whose cock she wraps those "natural" lips around and we'll make fun of him too.

The answer is YES -- if the guy faced crim charges in NYC, Boston, and France, and/but appeared to be a rather twitty yuppie.
Consider it social commentary.

We're still waiting for a clear picture of Poster Boy, who like all such vandals, is so proud of his work that he refuses to make his identity public.

That toy ass graffiti isn't worth getting arrested for if you ask me.

If she were black she would have a face of an international criminal? Your view on who looks and doesn't look like a criminal is part of the reason why there are so many more blacks/hispanics in prison.

GRAFFITI HEARTTHROB!
I'M IN LOVE!
