Giuliani Time: Slams State Budget, Consulting Firm Downsizes
Rudy Giuliani popped up once again this week, to chat with Glenn Beck (on April 1) about attorney generals going after financial firms and to chat about the opening of the new Yankee Stadium on Good Day New York.
Naturally, the former mayor also took time to talk politics—specifically how the new NY State budget, which features taxes for upper income brackets as well as other fees, is horrible. Giuliani, who is rumored to be considering running for governor in 2010, said, "The budget of the state is catastrophic. In the last week - this is serious - I've talked to least least five people who are moving out, who are moving their business out of the city of New York and out of the state."
Speaking of business, the Post reports that Giuliani's consulting business Giuliani Partners "is on the ropes, heavily pared down after his aborted presidential run last year." There are fewer clients and some executives have left as some support staff has been let go, while Giuliani pursues his well-paying speaking gigs and work at law firm Bracewell and Giuliani. However, Giuliani Partners partner Anthony Carbonetti tells the Post, "Rudy's spending more time than ever at the company helping us to reposition our business, and like every prudent business in this economy, we're doing everything we can to reduce costs and we are gaining new clients."
