Tyra Banks Gets Exclusive Interview With Levi Johnston

Set your DVRs—this Monday, the Tyra Banks Show will air the model-turned-entrepreneur's "exclusive" interview with Levi Johnston, ex-fiance of Bristol Palin. Johnston, along with mother Sherry and sister Mercede, came to New York City to tell his side of his romance with the daughter of Alaska Governor—and possible 2012 hopeful—Sarah Palin. From the press release:

Levi, who was sharing a room with Bristol at the Palin residence prior to their breakup, tells Tyra he believes Sarah Palin knew they were having sex and that they practiced safe sex, “most of the time.”   

Levi: “I’m pretty sure she probably knew. Mom’s are pretty smart.”  

Levi’s family also reveals to Tyra that they were under a gag order during the campaign.  

Sherry: “When you talk to media you say something and they have a twist to make it sound like something totally different.”  

Mercede: “We were supposed to say that all questions need be brought up to the McCain campaign. Other than that we had to say no comment.”

Of course, more recently, Mercede blabbed to the Star that allegedly Bristol was blocking Levi from seeing their son Tripp; Bristol Palin then accused Mercede of trying to "cash in" on the Palin name. And Levi Johnston told Good Morning America that he and Bristol aren't mature enough to get married... for now.

The Tyra Banks Show airs on WWOR 9 at 5 p.m.; more listings here. It's unclear if Tyra had Levi smile with his eyes during the show.

That "dainty finger pose" is Banks holding his hand to allow the camera I am guessing to focus on the tatoo this kid had of Bristol's name on his ring finger. During the Republican convention some canmera man picked up on it while the two teenagers were sitiing in the audience.

I am also guessing most men would not be paying attention to the angle of their hand if Tyra was holding their hand either.

fashion aside, i worry that after a term or two of obama, america will be foaming at the mouth for another redneck style presidency. and as news-oriented citizens, we can look forward to a lot of heartwarming white trash profiles such as this.

i'm assuming you realize the irony of tackling such a subject on a story about the "Tyra" show but i'll try to reframe my point.

the right bitch about liberal media bias, the left are always complaining about right-wing media blowhards. sources of news such as NY Times, Huffington Post, PBS, and many others outlets, do not fit neatly into your theory that right-wing propaganda has locked down the airwaves, print, and web news media.

The examples you cite are the exceptions (and among the only credible news sources we have) not the rule. The fact is that the vast majority of "news" outlets in this country, be they news papers, radio stations or TV networks, are owned and controlled by a very few large corporations who have vested political interest in censoring the flow of information. Again, the biggest players are News Corp, Comcast, Clear Channel, Viacom, GE and Disney. The result is that Americans are the most ill informed people in the developed world. The media conglomeration that has occurred over the last 20 years is criminal, and a threat to our "democracy," if you can still call it that with a straight face of course.
