Amateur Plastic Surgery Kills Bronx Mom

040309injection22.jpg After a prolonged autopsy, a Bronx medical examiner has concluded that the death of a 43-year-old mother of two was a homicide, the result of botched plastic surgery. On March 17th, Siordaliza Pichardo checked herself a Bronx hospital, complaining of dizziness and difficulty breathing; she later went into cardiac arrest and expired during the night. One day earlier, Pichardo had received silicone injections from a friend of hers who, according to investigators, is a "nonmedical, unlicensed person." After extensive tests, the ME determined the cause of death to be "silicone pulmonary embolism," and found that Pichardo had silicone clotting in her lungs. Her 21-year-old son Kelvin Rodriguez tells Newsday that his mother had gotten the silicon injections because she wanted to add shape to her thighs and buttocks; he says he was "strongly opposed that my mom was doing this because she didn't need it."

I hear that any second they are going to recall the DIY Booty and Butt Silicone Kit at Home Depot. What's next, the DIY Hollywood Lip Kit?

  • Felix Hoenikker

These techniques are reportedly popular in SE Asia and South America, but usually for boob jobs.

forget darwin, lets talk freud. why would a mother express that "she wanted to add shape to her thighs and buttocks" to her adult son?! how exactly does that conversation go?

"sonny do you think i've got enough junk in my trunk? tell momma the truth now!"

  • Headzo

actually, what I find even MORE disturbing is the son's response. he was "strongly opposed that my mom was doing this because she didn't need it."

So he's saying if she DID have a flat ass it would be ok for her to get homemade silicone injections from Doctor Nick.

  • kswissreject

Headzo, I think you misunderstood the son's comments. Whether she had an ass or not, he is clearly saying that however she was shaped, it was fine. Which is how you'd like your kids to feel, and honestly, if more people felt that way, we'd probably be better off as a society.

  • Headzo

perhaps you are right. i hope so.

    Here, here.

  • Rocknrope

I"m constantly amazed by people willing to cheap out when going under the knife. Any act that requires you to be anesthetized is probably not the best time to go bargain hunting.

  • About five years ago, a bank analyst died while undergoing unlicensed plastic surgery in Manhattan. The guy performing it took her body and buried it in the floor of a NJ house.

  • Clarice City

If you look up the house on goolge maps, 214 Elwood Avenue, you can see what appears to be police tape around the house. Pretty creepy!

  • jibbly

I can't believe how long ago this was.

  • Kojak

    Cue snarky Darwinian comments.

  • nicemarmot

She has a son, it's already too late from a Darwinian perspective.

  • JenChungsBaby

Oh my god, how friggin' stupid can you be? Where did this unlicensed, nonmedical person get the silicone -- Home Depot? Who would let someone like that just inject silicone into them?
