After not hearing from her for two days, the worried parents of a 26-year-old woman went to her West Brighton apartment and found her dead. The Staten Island Advance reports Caroline Wimmer was "beaten nearly beyond recognition and apparently strangled with an electrical cord" of a hair dryer.
Wimmer's mother Maria Wimmer told the Advance, "Her door was open, I walked in and saw the body...I saw her on the floor, it didn't look like her. Beaten up, all swollen. Just horrible." The police haven't determined whether it was a murder, according to the Daily News, neighbors apparently heard women arguing outside the apartment on Saturday and mentioned that Wimmer had trouble with an ex-boyfriend. While there were no signed of forced entry to the apartment, the apartment was apparently in "disarray." The police have no suspects so far.
It seems that Wimmer last logged onto her MySpace page on Friday; her message, "I will survive whatever life has to throw at me, I am ready and stronger than ever. Nothing or nobody will hold me back." Her father told the Advance he thought he knew who may have killed her, "She was a good kid, I don't know what else to say. I want her back. And I want to catch the person who did it," while Maria Wimmer said, "She was always trying to solve everyone's problems, and as far as I'm concerned she got into the middle of two lovers."

Ms JW, no excuses for those who post such things. There is nothing that could ever be said to make what happened to your family member any better. Some, in their fear of reality, in anonymity, from their internet existences that far exceed their real lives, feel free to exhibit behaviors they would never express in person. To them, the world exists in a glowing screen and their onscreen persona, which knows no humanity or compassion. I am sure there are many who felt sadness and shock at your family's loss, but many do not express that. One would only hope that those who fail to exhibit humanity, should they ever have to experience what your cousin and your family have now had to deal with, would see what humanity was about. Condolences to all of your family, and wishing, although nothing will ever bring Caroline back, that there can be some justice to come in this horrible tragedy.
To Ms. Wimmer: I am sorry for your loss. I hope you and your family get justice for your cousin. It sounds like certain sick people were jealous of your cousin and all women have to be careful because there are a lot of crazy people who live among us. As for the comments posted above, life is too short to waste, but I am glad you responded to them as I would if it was about someone in my family. Stay strong.
To Ms. wimmer an all the wimmer's i am sorry for your loss. My mother had called me up and use to go out with your daughter Caroline so often. My mother is a nervious wreck and i'm sure you all are too. The police will find out who did it and he will pay, but it still isnt enough of an loss. I do not know your daughter, but as i look at the photo thats on top of the article, she looks like a decent god gifting women and something to happen like this is a shame. For all the people above that say stupid things, you should be ashamed of yourself.
