NYC First Quarter Crime Falls

According to the Daily News, "Murders fell 23% and overall crime dropped 13% for the first three months of the year, despite a tanking economy and fewer cops on the street." Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is giving these details during a City Council meeting this morning; we hope he spills the beans on bank robbery numbers—we're betting those have climbed.

I understand that the numbers are down because the guy who compiles them was laid off in January.

Kelly also mentioned that they are cutting the number of cops on the street again. Now its the lowest number since 1990. Its only a matter of time before the thugs notice...

I don't believe it. It's easy to fudge numbers.
I've noticed the opposite the past 2 years walking around, headed to work, etc..

This is pretty hard for me to believe as well. Based on the news stories I've been reading, things don't seem to be going well...
