Last Night's Action: Henrik!

  • Rangers 3 Devils 0: The King was in charge Monday night as Henrik Lundqvist turned back the Devils with an outstanding night in net, stopping 38 shots and overshadowing what was the big story before the game; “the reunion” of Sean Avery and Martin Brodeur. Avery kept his distance from Brodeur, but he infuriated several Devils and goaded them into some bad penalties. David Clarkson became so mad at Avery, that he took a double-minor/game misconduct penalty for throwing him to the ice repeatedly in a scuffle in the third period.

On offense, Brandon Dubinsky got things started for New York and Dan Girardi and Ryan Callahan added the remaining goals. The win gives New York 89 points, good for seventh place, four ahead of ninth place Buffalo. It marked the fifth-straight loss for New Jersey and leaves the Devils six points ahead of Philadelphia for the Atlantic Division lead.

  • Milwaukee 107 Nets 78: The Bucks jumped out to a 21-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back as they destroyed the Nets. New Jersey didn’t really compete in this one, but at least they gave their fans a chance to beat the traffic.
  • Utah 112 Knicks 104: They haven’t quite quit on the season yet. Down by 24 in the third quarter, the Knicks stormed back and made things interesting in the fourth quarter, briefly taking the lead, before ultimately losing the game. Al Harrington epitomized the New York night, sleepwalking through the first half, scoring big points during the comeback and then melting down and stupidly getting ejected in the final minute.

It's a shame Clarkson didn't crack Avery's skull. And yes, I do have very little regard for Avery's life, as I do with all who walk this Earth as complete douches.

I really would love to know what it is about Avery that gets other teams' fans so wound up. Sure, the antics in front of Brodeur last year were stupid, but it's not like he goes around slashing other players or slewfooting them. He also isn't afraid to fight. So, what's the problem? Oh yeah, he's not on your team.

By the way, it was nice of Marty to retire after setting the record.

By the way, it was nice of Marty to retire after setting the record. I have to agree. They have been in a fog since he set the record. That record won't do them much good if they get destroyed in the first round. I can't stand Avery. He reminds me of Keith Acton-but the Rangers seem rejuvenated with him and Torts around...

I could care less what team he's on. Seriously. If he were on my team, I would want him off. If you don't beleive me, then check out my avatar. Everybody hates Terrell Owens. Is it because he's not on their team? No, I hated him before he was on the Cowboys. I hated him on the Cowboys. And now I hate him on the Bills. Bad people are bad people no matter what. Avery is bad. I'm sure he's the kind of person who is that big of a douche off the ice too.
