Harlem Rapper Jim Jones Drops Album, Goes to Court

php0Ua4wFPM.jpg Harlem rapper Jim Jones headed to court yesterday following an alleged physical assault on someone at the 5th Avenue Louis Vuitton store late last year. Not just anyone, ahem, some pal of an R&B star called Ne-Yo and the younger brother of rapper Jay-Z's road manager, reports The Daily News. Why is it that court dates always coincide with album drops? The paper also notes that his solo album hit stores yesterday, and he performed at Virgin Megastore hours after standing before a judge to reject a plea deal. Instead of taking 10 days of community service for the incident, the case will now go to trial on April 21st. His lawyer maintains that the other guy started it.

Is Akon releasing an album? Because the fight between him and Suge Knight is nuts.

Why is Suge not rotting away in jail?

Publicity stunt.
"Hey fellas, help me get my name in the paper?"

He didn't perform, he just signed copies of the album (and nothing else; his handlers were very strict about posters and other things). The in-store area is in the cafe of the store, and I wanted to get a coffee on my break and had to get past his secret service looking bodyguards who begrudgingly let me past after I revealed my staff shirt under my hoodie. The 3rd and fourth time I did it however, he seemed pretty pissed. There were dozens of cops there Usually we use our own security and the only angry looks I get are from teenyboppers who can't get in to meet Andy Samberg, Lady Gaga, etc. There were also DOZENS of cops there who set up barricades for the line of fans, which we never do, and they escorted him inside in a sea of blue so deep I think that picture is the first time I could actually SEE him.
