According to Daily News and Post, a 16-year-old male confessed to killing former WABC Radio reporter George Weber. Weber's body was found in his Carroll Gardens apartment on Sunday and police believed he knew his killer, because there were no signs of forced entry in the apartment. Now, police say that the teen apparently answered an ad that Weber had posted on craigslist. A police source told the News, "He saw the victim's ad looking for violent sex and said 'I can smother somebody for $60' but it got out of hand."
The police went through Weber's e-mails, web browser history and phone records; per the News's sources, "The two met in Brooklyn early Friday evening and then returned to the newsman's Carroll Gardens brownstone apartment under the premise of engaging in sadomasochistic acts." The teen couldn't remember how many times he stabbed Weber (whose legs and hands were bound with duct tape) because he had been on drugs. The Post says it was grisly—he apparently stabbed Webber so many times "it was difficult to get an accurate count by the time the body was discovered two days ago."
The water had been left running in Weber's bathroom tub, and police think the teen tried cleaning up before leaving (his blood was also found at the scene). The teen was taken into custody upstate. Yesterday, Weber's family had asked for help in finding the murderer, noting that Weber loved New York, its people and his work, "His passion for radio journalism was evident from his early years and only grew the longer he worked."

Jen, I think you need to proofread your article.
'who was legs and hands were bound'....??
Thanks, fixed.
You have to specify in the Craigslist ad that you do not want to be stabbed while you're smothered and tied up
In thew same ad where you solicit "violent sex"? Craigslist isn't responsible for anyone's offense or disapproval of a satisfied customer.
Whoa. This is gonna be a shitstorm for the Gay community.
This can and does happen in all walks of life -- you don't have to be gay or into BDSM to be a victim of someone out to hurt people. The fact is that when meeting anyone, especially a person for sex acts that are somewhat rough, you need to think of your safety first and your libido second.
I'm just saying it's bad press for the Gay Community. The kid is 16... claiming to have been out of his mind on drugs... so many stab wounds you can't count them all...
I think it's about meeting people for the first time in any circumstance—and keeping safety in mind. Meeting for a drink or coffee in a public place is safer than going to a private setting.
"Dumb, self-destructive closet case gets killed by twitchy tweaker trick."
Sure, if by "shitstorm" you mean a collective yawn.
No - this will not be a "shitstorm" or any other storm for the gay community, other than to repeat the warnings about knowing who you're taking home and letting others know what's going on. While death was not part of the deal, he did advertise for violent sex. Engaging in risky behavior, unfortunately, has risks. Sadly, this got out of hand.
The kid's probably not even gay. Just another hustler looking for money.
i think i've seen this a few hundred times on law and order
So this guy wanted asphyxiation during sex with a minor? No rest for the wicked. Oh wait...
I didn't gather from the article whether Weber knew the person he was meeting was 16.
He should have asked before engaging in behavior that requires trust.
"His passion for radio journalism and BDSM with minors was evident from his early years and only grew the longer he worked."
It must be a terrible thing to realize that, as your life slips away, you will also lose every ounce of dignity and respect post-mortem.
The Post stays he is from Forest Hills, while the Daily News says he is from East Elmhurst.

He was a good kid.
I fault our public schools for not teaching kids to do kink responsibly.
Wow. What a way to go.
Rocknrope said it best.
When people say "any publicity is good publicity", I don't think whomever is manning this poostorm at CL would agree today.
