2009_03_susparr.jpg Police have arrested a plumber for shooting an arrow that ultimately pierced the stomach of a woman dropping off her friends at a nursing home in Riverdale. The Daily News reports that police had been questioning area residents when they came across Eric Collins, 27. A source said though the cops were just asking routine questions, "He was acting a little squirrely. He was sweating and shaking. It was clear he knew more than he claimed."

According to WCBS 2, Collins and his pregnant wife "were moving into his grandparent's home on Independence Avenue when police say he was taking a break from unpacking and fired the arrow at a fence. It ricocheted up" and somehow hit Denise Delgado-Brown. Delgado-Brown, a 51-year-old court officer, was stunned to see an arrow sticking out of her body and underwent surgery. She is now at home, much to the relief of her family and friends; she told WCBS 2's Pablo Guzman, "That's a senior citizens building and a nursing home. How could you do that? You didn't think somebody was gonna get hurt?"

Police had always suspected it was an accident, but Collins never stepped forward. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said Collins "was one of the first people we spoke to because his house was literally right next to where the event took place and he said he had no knowledge of it." Collins is charged with assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon. We also hear that the police are re-establishing the crime scene at Independence Avenue—maybe to see if it happened the way Collins said it did?

White guy, Bow & Arrow, The Bronx...
There's a joke here but I just can't figure it.

Glad they got this idiot.

Moron squared...
first for shooting the arrow, second for not coming forward.

it's never the crime, it's the coverup.

When this becomes a L&O episode, he'll be represented by Lawrence Yellowfeather, ESQ.

Gee i'm wondering if this guy is a NATIVE New Yorker! ZING!!!!

wow it's idiot day. again.

funny, he doesn't look native american? Isn't this idiot to old to pretend he is cowboys and indians. put him in the cell for a few months.

He "fired the arrow at a fence and it riccocheted upward"? But it maintained enough velocity and flightpath integrity to pierce that poor lady's stomach? This guy is a bit more than your ordinary idiot, he's a liar and a sociopath too.

"Collins is charged with assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon."

Doesn't sound good for him. Is it reasonable to say that he is looking at jail time? Really sad that he has a pregnant wife.

"Is it reasonable to say that he is looking at jail time?"

Reasonable. Each of those, depending on the degree actually filed, could be either a misdemeanor or felony charge. In each case, jail or prison time is among the possible sentences.

All the Plaintiff's attorneys up in the Bronx must be salivating right about now. Dorky guy, doing something silly, injures court officer, with a Bronx jury, nice. Hope he has good umbrella insurance. This case is not going all the way to trial, not unless the carrier has a bizarre desire to pay millions at verdict.

Gobble Gobble, nice turkey neck!

they went after the white guy cause of a arrow. racist.

Collins and his pregnant wife "were moving into his grandparent's home on Independence Avenue...

wow, he sounds like a real winner. or a very bad plumber. or both.

Also explains why the herds of bison roaming the Bronx are rather thin lately.
