- Devils 3 Chicago 2: The crowd was rocking and the object of their affection was not about to disappoint them. Martin Brodeur set the wins record Tuesday stopping 30 shots and making a big save as time ticked down. After the game with the crowd chanting his name and giving him a standing ovation, Brodeur started a new hockey tradition, cutting out the goalie net he had defended for two periods to keep as a memento. Brodeur was not the only guy to set a record Tuesday. Patrik Elias became the Devils’ all-time leading scorer with an assist in the second period.
- Rangers 4 Montreal 3 (OT): The Rangers and Montreal traded goals throughout a fast-paced and entertaining game. The Rangers recorded 42 shots, but Carey Price was outstanding in net, turning away 39 of them. Price’s luck ran out in the shootout as all three Rangers scored. Chris Drury provided the game-winner.

Typical Ranger fan-this is about hockey history that occurred in the tri state area. The New York Rangers traditionally acquire great players after they have achieved greatness-rarely will we see one play his entire career with the organization and set records like this. However Ranger fans prefer to be boorish, professing love for a really shitty team. Yeah whoo hoo Johnny T set the record! WOW! Did he coach the Rangers his whole career?
You Devils fans are so predictable and so easy to wind up. You expect Rangers fans to genuflect at the altar of Lou and Marty. Here's a newsflash for you: we don't care about the Devils. They aren't New York's team. Get over it and stop continuously whining about it.

First of all I am a hockey fan-I find myself very fortunate to live in an area that has 3 teams to watch. You Ranger fans all come from the same mold unfortunately-blindly and arrogantly following a scrubby team for decades with the hope they might make the playoffs...

I, too, am first and foremost a hockey fan, which is why I hate the invention of the trap, the clutch and grab, and defense-first hockey. It's why I am enjoying, thus far, the more attack-minded Rangers. It's why I really appreciate the Red Wings, Capitals, and Sharks.
Of course I've followed the Rangers for decades hoping they get in the playoffs and win the cup. I mean, what kind of moron grows up supporting one club and then switches allegiances. Never mind, I know the answer to that one.

I'm a diehard Rangers fan who LOATHES the Devils, but even I can appreciate the tremendous feat that Brodeur just accomplished. That said, if/when NY & NJ play each other in the playoffs, Rangers will win in six.

I sit in 309. I bleed blue, but I am also a hockey fan. Marty earned this night and he has earned more respect than the local area has ever given him.
That being said, I hope Avery scores seven times on him on the 30th.
I like how Marty got tired of cutting the net and other Devils had to take over. It's kinda ridiculous to cut the net—it's not a basketball net, there's so much to cut!
That's what I was thinking. Someone needs to invent a special tool for future cuttings of hockey nets.
I don't think there needs to be a special invention (lots of perfectly good items already exist), just don't give the man safety scissors to cut a HUGE net.
Yeah, but all of those are variations on a theme (scissors). The great American dream is to take someone else's idea, twist it, and make it your own (along with a patent). :)

Wait, I'm confused. The article says he defended the net for 2 periods. Is that a typo? I assume there wasn't a goalie change in such a low-scoring game. (I didn't get to watch it).
Teams switch sides between periods, so he took the net he defended for the 1st and 3rd periods.
