THEATER: Lorenzo Pisoni was raised by clowns and grew up performing as the youngest member of the Pickle Family Circus in San Francisco. Miraculously, he hasn't gone on to become a serial killer (as far as we know). Instead, he's written a one-man show about his loony childhood called Humor Abuse. The play, performed by Pisoni, chronicles his long struggle to fill his father's giant shoes, then ultimately walk away from them. Charles Isherwood at the Times calls it "endearing... Physically, Pisoni’s performance is breathtaking. He juggles, he performs pratfalls, he flings himself in and out of the trunk that is the main feature of the set... As he remarks ruefully at one point, once upon a time kids dreamed of running away to the circus. It took the young Pisoni a while to find the courage to run away from it." — John Del Signore
