Pencil This In

Always a good excuse to run this photo of LSF's Syd Butler and baby.
MUSIC: If you missed out on tickets to the big Wrens show at Bowery tonight, there's plenty of music going on elsewhere. Hopewell, Artranker Convoy, The Netherlands and The Albertans are at Glasslands tonight, all in celebration of the headliner's new cd release. And over at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple there are still tickets available for the Les Savy Fav show (with openers Francis & The Lights, and Sean Bones).

Friday // 8 p.m. // Various Locations

THEATER: Jack Hanley's new play Finishing House is set 70 years in the future, long after Manhattan is declared a sovereign state under the auspices of the United Nations, with human organ farms organized by the Department of Health. The high-tech, cyberpunk show concerns, among other things, a Connecticut woman living in fear of secret government agents raiding her organic strawberry farm and "capping" the life of her homosexual son. Martin Denton says the production is "so full of apocalyptic, Orwellian, future-shock, post-everything ideas that it risks overloading its audience's senses." Which sounds like our idea of fun; Denton also calls it "brisk and exciting and visceral." — John Del Signore

Friday // 7:30 p.m. // Dixon Place [161 Chrystie St] // $20

COMEDY: FreeNYC has a sweet deal on some comedy tonight. If you mention their name while making a reservation, you'll get the regular $20 cover waived! "The early set (10pm) features Sherrod Small, Joe DeRosa, and Godfrey while the midnight one features sets from Judah Friedlander and Jay Oakerson." More info here.

Friday // 10 p.m. and 12 a.m. // Eastville Comedy Club [85 E 4th St] // Free with reservation

SPORT: Find out what Wiffle Hurling is this weekend at an All Star Game going down in Prospect Park. "Anyone can play, provided they wear one of the uniforms provided or bring their own. There will be a clinic for the new sport right before the game. Afterwards there will be performances, reading, and appropos of this list a fire spinner."

Saturday // 1 p.m. // Prospect Park Southwest Ballfields // Free

BIKE RIDE: As any regular cyclist knows, the NYPD doesn't do shit when it comes to ticketing drivers who double park in bike lanes, thereby forcing bike riders to perilously merge with speeding traffic. Thankfully, the clowns are doing something about it! Today you're invited to join them, in costume or without, as they pedal en masse to remind everyone that bike lanes are for bikes. The "Time’s Up! Pies of March Clown Ride" will culminate at 3:30 at Astor Place with a "Bike Clowns vs. Keystone Cops" pie fight. (Clown makeup and props will be provided for anyone interested.) Last year, the Discovery Channel covered the ride; watch it here. — John Del Signore

Saturday // 1:30 p.m. // Tompkins Square Park [Near the big tree at the 7th St entrance] // Free

TV: If you couldn't get in to the Cort Theatre to see Will Ferrell's portrayal of the former President in "You're Welcome America. A Final Night With George Bush," then hopefully you've got HBO. This Saturday night the performance will be aired live on the network, and the Post reports that "They've raised premium prices to $350, and on the day of the broadcast they've pretty much declared the entire orchestra premium seating."

Saturday // 9 p.m. // Your Television // Free

DANCE: The Bell House will transform into an old timey dance hall on Sunday, as Gemini and Scorpio present Swing House. "A costumed dance ball with live swinging sounds by vintage jazz bands, DJs remixing and reinventing vintage grooves, awesome aerial artistry, dazzling dance numbers, blazing burlesque, and performance art to make you swoon. Plus: fire performers, vintage go-gos, and cigarette girls. The Jazz Age never ended, it just got funky. Dress accordingly."

Sunday // 8 p.m. // the Bell House [149 7th St, Gowanus] // $12-18
