41 Gang Members Busted in Washington Heights, the Bronx

2009_03_machete2.jpg This morning, federal agents and members of the NYPD busted dozens of members of the Trinitarios gang in Washington Heights and the Bronx early this morning. MyFoxNY reports, "The Trinitarios are accused of being a Dominican gang that operated and controlled drug trafficking on at least four city blocks in the area of West 171st Street through West 174th Streets in the Washington Heights neighborhood." Also: 200 law enforcement officers were involved with the raid. The Trinitarios are believed to be the city's fastest growing gang—and they are not afraid to use violence (their weapon of choice is the machete).

Given their origins I would have thought that a baseball bat would be their chosen weapon.

wouldn't TRINITARIOS be from TRINIDAD??

so these gangs would be DOMINICARIOS???

I'm confused should I wear the blue of red bandana or the gold crown...gang fashion is so hard sometimes.

trinity. doesnt have to mean trinidad.

The name comes from the moniker of the three violent leaders of the Domincan independence movement from Haiti. The military coup's choice of weapon was the machete, hence the gang's usage.

I wonder how many are in the country illegally. If this country ever found the balls to secure its own borders and enforce immigration laws already on the books, crime would drop significantly.

Celebrate diversity --- or else.

Don't assume anyone isn't a citizen. I doubt anyone crew member from any of the 5 NY mob families was born in Italy.

Drug dealing is so 1988... Why don't they get into hedge fund management. There is a shitload of free money to be made

They couldn't possibly fit their bikes, machetes, and all their other crap in an elevator.

i hate thugs of all races & genders

i would guess that they are legal, although their "parents" probably weren't/aren't

I live on those blocks. Its been a while since anyone asked me why I live in such a dangerous 'hood. Although those damned helicopters woke me up this morning... anything to keep the rents down.

Oh, and the answer to any cop banging on your door, even at 7:30 am is let me see your warrant (which should have your exact address on it), even if you are an Ivy League student.

These idiots should be put in jail for their idiocy, who is in a gang in 2009?

OMG racial profiling, police harassment OMG OMG OMG!!!

According to NY1, they arrested 34 people and only uncovered "8 guns, 20lbs. of marijuana, 50 grams of cocaine, and $50,000"???

There was a shift change, that's why the take wasn't bigger.

They didn't have any more room in their pockets what with all the plantain chips, dominoes, and travel-size Axe Body Spray in their saggies.
