Fatal Shooting Inside a Van in Greenpoint

2009_03_grnptshooting.jpg Police are investigating a shooting that allegedly took place at Morgan Avenue and Meeker Avenue in Greenpoint last night. Two men were driving the victim in search of a hospital when they flagged down a Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority officer as they headed towards the entrance of the Midtown Tunnel not far from the Greenpoint border in Queens around 11 p.m. The two men told police that the victim was in the front seat of the gold Honda Odyssey parked alongside the BQE when another man shot him in the head and then fled the scene. The victim was pronounced dead once EMTs arrived. No arrests have been made and police have not released any description of the alleged shooter.

Morgan and meeker are at least a ten minute drive from the entrance to the tunnel, which is in queens. Weird

It is weird, but the route's actually pretty simple. A right off Meeker onto McGuinness Blvd would take them across the Pulaski Bridge into LIC, where the tunnel entrance is. It's only about a mile and a half, then some possibly confusing turns to get the tunnel entrance.

From the location in the video it looks like they came that way, while the other route to the tunnel would have been the BQE to the LIE which would go directly to the tunnel entrance. But they were on surface streets when they flagged down the cop.
