Water Taxi Beach Coming to South Street Seaport, Too

030409seaport.jpg How many glorified sandboxes can one city sustain? The folks who made Water Taxi Beach in Long Island City a fratastic destination for the volleyball and burger crowd is betting on three. In addition to a second location previously announced for Governors Island, Down By the Hipster hears word that the faux-beach trilogy will be complete at the South Street Seaport this summer. Whatever your feelings about the Seaport tourist trap—to say nothing of visiting a beach where there's no swimming—it's a safe bet that recession-minded New Yorkers and visitors alike will be fine with a conveniently-located solution to their sand and beer needs. According to Eater, next week the Water Taxi Beach company will seek Community Board 1's blessing in its quest for a liquor license and general approval for a beach, restaurant and bar. Watch your back, Uno Pizzeria.

Uno's is crap. As a Chicago native, it makes me sad that what most New Yorkers know about Chicago pizza is from the franchise Uno's locations. You might as well eat at Applebee's.

What's to know about Chicago pizza other than you can't fold that shit when you eat it?

Why not just hop on a train to go to a real beach instead of hanging around Hepatitis infested waters ? We must seem like dolts to Mid-Westerners.

  • Dang why so much hate for the Water Taxi Beach? or did I read this wrong? What's wrong with fratboys, tourists, hipsters, or anyone having enjoying themselves?

JDS- Everyone knows it's PIZZERIA UNO!!

Ha, I am NOT getting sucked into another Uno nomenclature debate. I don't care what it says on their letterhead, it will always been Uno Pizzeria to me.

There's really nothing to debate. Even years before they started franchising throughout the rest of the country their original small place in Chicago was Pizzeria Uno, followed by a second location called Pizzeria Due.
