Fertility Doc Won't Do Eye and Hair Gene Designing... Yet!

030409genedoc.jpg Yesterday's story about a fertility doctor's plan to help parents choose the eye and hair color of their babies triggered "a flood of calls" from would-be procreators eager for designer infants. But doctor Jeff Steinberg is still at least six months away from offering the service, and in a follow-up he tells the Daily News that for now, "We're going to limit it to people with genetic diseases because we just cannot keep up with what's going on." His institute also pulled an announcement about the controversial service from the website; the ad trumpeted: "PREDICTIVE GENOMICS TO BE AVAILABLE: Eye color, hair color, cancer tendency and more." These babies are insaaaaane! Besides offering genetic customization for parents with family histories of albinism and other disorders, Steinberg will still help parents predetermine their child's gender, a service that's already available at other clinics. But really this was all just an excuse to publish this photo of Steinberg, which might provide some clue as to the source of the good doctor's passion for genetic engineering.

I want my kid to glow in the dark; like that cat.

I declare a battle for worst hair in NYC - this guy vs. Trump. Who will be the victor?

Really. Can he gentically alter his crazy male pattern baldness?

Here come the first of the C.H.U.D.

Never has such a perfect cross-breed of Dr. Robotnik and Dr. Wily existed... go forth and mingle with those genes, o video game villian(s) of my youth! and capture Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man while you are at it!!!

There is no "designing" or "customization" involved here. What they are doing is using fertility drugs to make lots of embryos (like Octomom did) then aborting the ones that don't match the preferences.

He Trumps Trump with that hair!

That bald-headed fat arrogant freak looks exactly like the type who would switch the designer sperm with his own foul jizz and impregnate unsuspecting women with it. Women beware!

I think Law and Order did an episode on that already! Life imitating art!

Reallt. Can he gentically alter his own crazy male pattern balness and pudgy body?

I hate moveable type. First, my post didn't post. I tried again. And now, I have a double post. sorry everyone!

This is a Mel Brooks movie, right?
